I bought one of the Mexican XR150L bikes 2 years ago - same bike as you have purchased PLUS I have a CRF250 back here in Canada. I really enjoy the XR150L and accept the basic bike configuration. I added the handguards, skid plate and really have had no problems at all. THe bike sits for months at a time between visits to Mexico - but it always fires up with choke on. Great bike and enjoy it immensely - purchased January 2022 for $2,200 CDN. It will last forever!! .

Just a tip, having it half choked while riding will keep it from warming up quickly. The rich fuel is actually removing heat from the combustion chamber. Just choke it to start it, put it on half choke for 10-15 seconds while keeping rpms up, and then take the choke off and immediately start riding. This will keep the head of the piston hot and keep the fuel vaporized. I know in Canada it gets really cold. You could bump the pilot jet up one size and you wont run into the cold blooded-ness as bad.

bought mine in October of 23. at 42 it’s my first bike and i’ve loved learning to ride on it. only have 2000 miles on it but each one has been a blast!

Nice first ride video Critter. Gabe from Torture Test Magazine on You Tube did a review on the 150 and the one thing people where telling him was that it burned oil. He said his did but he found out it was not burning oil but blowing it out the breather tube and he solved that problem by putting on a longer tube and positioned the tube so that it dipped down to create a kind of goose neck. So instead of blowing little bits of oil out it would collect in that goose neck instead and suck it back into the crank case when the engine cooled down. Any way I hope your wife and daughter have a lot of fun on that great little bike. I think my grand son might like this bike when he gets a little older.

I believe a longer tube that goes up several inches then back down and reconnected , allows gravity to direct the oil back down to the crankcase . Mine was down maybe 250 ml. With a lot of wide open throttle use on 80 klms. roads . Those that are upgrading anyway can bypass this debacle as saving a few pennies on gas and wasting dollars on good honda oil makes no sense .

Very cool video. I do agree and connect with you. I’ve always had small bore toys, with the reasoning or logic of i can get a brand new bike, maybe smaller but brand new for the same price of someone else’s used high strung problems. I also like being the underdog and embarrassing people that on bigger iron. (Although those days are gone, lol) I feel you learn a ton more and, as you said, you’re riding the bike, it’s not taking you for a ride. Insurance is cheaper, gas mileage is better, parts are cheaper. While a lot of my thoughts are snowmobile related, the Pro classes (in my day) were 440cc little light weight rockets that were a blast! So the only negative I can admit to, is the stomach turning, gut wrenching, laugh in your helmet mid range pull of a big bore. Ya, that’s cool, I admit, but is it $5000.00 cool? Congratulations to your daughter, Be safe and have fun.

Hi mine now has 4000+klm. break-in was around 1500 klm First upgrades includes Footpegs --- a must DZG LED headlight (plug&play) now you can see and be seen $30 Battery tender / charge-wire USB×2/Voltmeter $25 Stock honda tank.bag , Bling Collapsible tail bag . storage Cup holder ( attached leftside rear rack )best spot A few more tools/zip ties/tape/fuse , note the hi-beam on+brake and starting bike can blow the fuse so (led) . Buy a magnetic oil plug . The boys in Portland are testing a cheap 222cc. Big bore kit+carb? cam maybe 125 + klms. can't wait $$$. best cheap. simple, fun, dual sport, it's a no brainer buy . Ottawa Ont. still cold brrr...

Looks like fun! I learned to ride on a Hodaka 90 and would love to have another small light bike to do a little trail riding. Should fit on the bumper of my Tundra with no problem. I'm not at all concerned about looking like the proverbial monkey and football.
