Just gotta say. I picked up a 2001 kx 250 that had a bad crank bearing. I’ve done construction for 14 years, so a bit of mechanical knowledge. With all your videos, I was able to order all the correct parts, and completely rebuild my Kx, all the way from frame. Back to running. You are simply the man. And go figure, now I have to rebuild my forks. And here I am once again. You have turned me into a two stroke lover and believer. Thank you for all the spitfire rebuild videos , seriously. I was able to do it all with tools I have acquired normally over the years as well. And my god does she rip now.

@@The_Emotionals this is absolutely amazing dude! Stoked that you were able to turn your 01 around into a ripper! Thank you for the feedback on the videos. I try and pass along my knowledge for everyone who has helped me along the way as well. Much appreciated. People like you are the ones that need to help keep these ol' two strokes alive and kicking! Enjoy the bike and keep me posted if you need anything else 🤙🏼💨

I wish you had made this video 2 years ago! I just used the impact to get it back together. I did use your electrical tape tricks. I did use Pro-X parts too. I actually thought that was fun to rebuild the forks. I did notice vertical wear through the anodizing on the inside of the uppers? Cab that be stripped and anodized again?
@GregHitchko Жыл бұрын
It's pretty fun to get them rebuilt eh?? I really enjoy it. It's not the end of the world to use the impact to get them back together, like I said in a pinch, you'll be fine! Pro-X is some good stuff too 🙌🏼. I'm not sure of anything to reanodize the inside beside doing kashima coating which is inside and out! I'll have to research👍🏼

I rebuilt a '99 too. The 99 gear ratios are horrific. I swapped in a 95 kdx gear cluster for a wider ratio. After the first rebuild on the forks, the tool isn't really needed. I zip mine on and off with an impact.

Great info! Thanks for commenting my dude. I'll have to look into the gear ratios
@Crypto6668 ай бұрын
@@GregHitchko If I remember correctly, 2002 had a very likeable set of ratios. On my 99 1st and 2nd felt like the same gear. If you need bushings for your gear swap, let me know. Since I did mine I acquired the skills to turn my own.

Do you tighten the top cap down on the rod and then snug the nut up ? I just tightened finger tight and then brought the nut up to it and the rebound seems more open then it normally did when turned in.

Damn they must be! Strange that they keep blowing out on you. You should be able to find those forks for pretty cheap on eBay
@Marc7579 ай бұрын
You need to make sure your forks are parallel. If the bottom of the forks are pinched inward, you put a bind on the insides of your fork seals making them wear FAST. Motion pro sells a tool to align your forks or you can try the bounce method. On the stand loosen the axle pinch bolts opposite of the axel nut, take of the stand and cycle or bounce the front suspension. Then carefully snug the axle pinch bolts. Put back on stand and torque everything with out loosening. This method will set the forks parallel. I had the same problem years ago, actually bought the motion pro tool and use it a lot more than I thought I would. The tool is not bike specific so you can use it on any bike.
