At the race track where I work one of our customers spent 16k on his Honda CRF110. It's got full clutch, front and rear upgraded front and rear swingarm from a KTM but fully customized by Ohlins. It's absolutely insane. It's got an ECM DONGLE which hooks up to Bluetooth on your phone via app and allows you to switch maps and setting on the fly while monitoring engine vitals. 😀

Yeah it is possible, you would just need brake masters, forks and a swing from a disk brake bike that fit the crf. It sounds more complicated then it actually is.

I swear with the new crf I cant figure out if its the suspension or the plastics that just plain make it look lame,i have an oldr one that looks fire but its a full bbr kitted bike ( 2013 style ) the klx right out the box looks super cool,again because of their suspension game and if you hook them up forget it

I was in high School at the start of the craze around 2003. Only parts you could buy were made in USA. BBR was a big one, fast 50's, Sano suspension etc. Chinese parts didn't exist, most legit builds were 4-8k. Ridiculous I know. I remember the local mx track would host a 50 race during the "intermission" on big events and pro racers and kids would line up together (on honda 50's- not even 110's!) and send doubles you would never imagine even possible a year earlier.
