As a retired service tech with close to 50 years in the field I was around when EPS first came out back in the mid to late 90s and have watched it get redesigned over and over into what it is now. Its not a servicable system and when it fails you have to buy a completely new steering rack assembly. This is why I love the hydraulic systems, because parts are available to repair them, plus they have a more natural feedback through the steering wheel of road feel.

When I got my new 2014 Accord my wife calls me up one day saying the steering froze while she was turning. They had to replace the whole steering rack. I have owned over a half a dozen Honda’s and that will probably be my last.

Got my recall letter 2 weeks ago on my 24 crv. It had no clicking symptoms to start with but the dealership greased the worm gear anyway and checked my fuel pump which was ok. No big deal; in and out.

Wow I’ve driven my 24 CRV hybrid 34000 miles so far. The steering has never been hard for me it’s been smooth the whole time thank the lord. My car is on the recall list I spoke to my advisor about it he stated he would order the parts as soon as they are ready. The CRV I have has 3 recalls active which is mind boggling.

They need to recall the puddle lights on the side mirrors on the tlx type s. I got a 2021 TLX TYPE S it worked on the first night I got it, and then the next day the light stopped working.

I have a 2022 Honda civic touring. Ive had this problem for about 8 months. I took it to dealer and they checked the steering and said there was no problen! So I am taking back in because the sterring is getting worse with the sticking issue. Thx for your input!!!

I just got my car back from the dealer (2022 civic touring) and they replaced the rack via a recall. Now it drives the way it should and I am able to make micro adjustments on the freeway without a problem. Hope that this is a permanent fix and hope you got yours fixed on their dime.

Their fix is to pack the gear box with heavier grease and replace a spring............all while leaving the "improperly produced worm wheel" in the gear box. Like you said, the gear is not built to spec.

I linked my 2023 Civic to the HondaLink App when I purchased the vehicle, and received this recall that you mentioned (24V-744) by an App notice on October 10th. As soon as I saw the notice, I called my local Honda dealer and was able to schedule the recall repair on October 31st (21st was the earliest date available, but I had a business trip planned for that date). It appears that having your car on HondaLink is the fastest way to get the recall notice, seeing that mail notice will happen in around November…

They did my 2024 integra this week. It took them 6 hours. The steering feels tight when i turn right, but aside from that. Can't tell much.

I've been complaining to Honda service department about my steering wheel being stinky and hard to steer at times, they kept telling me everything looks good. I still drive that car to this day and thank god nothing bad happened. I'm taking my car in immediately for the recall smh! I drive a 2022 civic touring

Disappointed in Honda.There’s 2 recalls for my ‘24 CRV Hybrid Sport. One for the steering. 2nd for the fuel pump. A week ago I stopped in for a free car wash and talked to the service advisor and he told me that parts are not available.

ATTN: All *HONDA* owners of vehicles affected by this particular recall, I'd advise you to be PROACTIVE and not wait around until Honda contacts you via a (snail mail) letter, which may not arrive until November '24 or later?!!! who knows if Honda may run out these recall kits/related part(s) by then?! *SMH* ... simply call your preferred local Honda dealer and talk to a Service Advisor- if he/she is good/resourceful, they will look up your VIN, and proceed to order the *recall kit* (for *improperly produced steering gearbox worm wheel* ) while scheduling your Honda for service (about 1-2 weeks after your request is initiated)....you'll likely need to leave it there for a day or two in advance- I just did this for our 2024 Honda CR-V which only has about 2K miles on it.... BTW, as the video owner has stated, simply adding grease alone will not comprise a permanent fix....this particular recall kit consists of a *replacement of the WORM GEAR SPRING and adding grease (to reduce friction).* 🤓

I have a sport 2022 as well while moving out of parking spot I turn wheel and hear like a ticking sound as well sort of like a bad axle sound , I took to dealer last year they say I'm good so I'm going back

Is honda obligated to disclose when they've already fixed a recall? Does that show up as a closed recall on the carfax? How do you find out more about potential recall for a vehicle that you're shopping? I'm looking at a lightly used 2025 CRV hybrid which has one open recall, the fuel pump, but no mention of the worm wheel.

25 Civic Hybrid Sport Touring here. I KNEW it. I kept thinking the steering is heavy, the car felt heavy. After a month of course I kinda got used to it, but I knew it felt kinda heavy to turn and control for a brand new car. What a bummer. Once they take it apart it'll never be the same again. This sucks

I have 2024 Integra Type S, and this is just another problem. It has been in the shop almost one month out of the first year of ownership. And Honda refused to honor their warrantee.

Honda has been solely a North American manufacturer for decades now. The exception was always the Acura RL/RLX (Honda Legend) but that's been discontinued. People just become a fan of brands for no reason and feel that whatever they own is better than what their neighbor has. Always buy the product, not the brand. Honda has been mediocre for two decades now but the ignorants love to remain ignorants. Go with Lexus, Genesis, and Mazda if you're looking for a somewhat decent and reliable vehicle, and even they have awful products in their lineup - just a handful are the exceptions. The reality is that most cars these days are trash, regardless of brand.

@@philhenderson3516 True, brand loyalty is now restrictive. After owning 5 new Hondas since the 90s, I currently own 2 Hyundais (Elantra N is amazing). My next move would to Acura with their rumoured ADX. Then there's Tesla who are about to release a model 2, which is huge if they own up to their promise. Seems like a good time to shop for a new cars since the ICE versions are not holding back... These buyers who are fixed with Toyota and Honda quality above all else are dumb.

Keep it. I found a 2005 Honda Pilot EXL with 90K on it. Senior owned from new, garaged, dealer maintained including timing belt service and valve adjustment. New tires the whole enchilada. $7500 and it sat for a week on Craigslist. This was pre- Xi's pandemic. Wife said it had "too many miles." Our 2005 has 270K on it now. Most reliable vehicle I've owned to date and I'm 74.

We have had significant problems with our 2023 Civic Sport Touring. My girlfriend has hit a bunch of curbs which could be a contributing factor of the steering issues, not blaming it on that completely lol . We have had four civics, and the 2023 has by far been the most problematic with suspension and steering issues and door seals and fading trim. Definitely will not be buying a civic again.

I have owned 4 Hondas and Currently have a 16 CIVIC touring and 24 HRV sport ( I like the K20 engine ) and both have now had recalls, 2x air conditioning for my civic and now this for my HRV. As others have now posted, all we are allowed to drive now is plastic cheap plastic garbage made with low grade steel. I Don't even want a Lexus or Acura. the next vehicle I buy will be cash and bare bones base model or used from a friend. Christ at this point I could be done with Driving altogether, I am that sick and tired of being sick and tired.

*ACURA is pure crap/hell on earth!!!!!* owned a brand new MDX for a problematic 10 years during which I spent many days in any given year in the Acura service department- also seemed like they had a Technical Service Bulletin for that car come out like very 2-3 months!!!!!....ever since I ditched the Acura MDX for a brand new Lexus RX350, I only see the Lexus service department, maybe once a year at the most!!! smh
