Bought my 21 trd offroad in November of 2020. Will be coming up on 4 years of ownership and its been a fantastic truck. Last of the v8 and I will be keeping the truck for as long as I can. Always loved the 1794 trim. That interior is beautiful.

Always enjoyed your candid and detail-oriented review! The interior build quality is interesting cause if you apply force, the plastic will wiggle. But on the other hand they don’t squeak. Coming from Tacoma and 4R, which has very robust non-wiggling plastics.

Well I ended up selling my 2020 Tacoma and bought a 2017 Tundra double cab TRD off road package in quicksand with the black TRD wheels. 1 owner 34k miles on it when I got it last week. I’m loving it so far. The gas mileage is a consistent 15.5 mpg but the 38 gallon tank definitely helps.

Well, you have the best Tundra in my opinion. Yes, I might be biased since I own a 2021 Tundra Limited, but I always liked the 1794 trim, even for the 3rd gen Tundra, the 1794 is my favorite trim, and I hate the 3rd gen Tundra. When I was buying my truck 3 years ago, I just did not want to pay the extra $4,000 and I generally buy vehicles in the mid level trim. However, you said that you hear a clunking noise, I have not noticed that clunking though, and the loud noise you hear when you start the truck is because of the engine cooling fan that spins at high rpm for a minute or two. If the truck's engine is warm and you start the truck, I do not think the fan spins that fast or for that long. The gas pedal of my Tundra does not seem to have the gap or lack of acceleration you mentioned. but if you want to race other people, just press the tow mode button and you will see the difference. I am not sure if they have changed the programming of my truck compared to yours, mine is the 2021, but your truck, because of the higher trim, might be a bit heavier. I like that you say that you have very few features in your truck, which is true. I like to say that Ford F150 has 50+ features and probably no one is using 10 of those, and I say that my Tundra has 7 features (I do not know why I am even saying that number), but it is what I need and I use generally all of them. Although, there are some features that are hidden and many people do not know about them, and while I have tried many of the hidden features, I rarely use them and each time I want to use some of them, I have to search on the internet to remember how to activate them (especially the off-road ones). You are saying that you are 5'10'' and you are having hard time getting in the truck. You should see my wife climbing in the truck. She is 5'01'' and we do not have the steps that you do. I feel that she is rock climbing every time she gets into the driver side of the truck and I have made a lot of videos that she is not even aware of. She would kick my a** if she knew about the videos. Anyhow, with the new trucks pricing, I think that many consumers will navigate to buying a used truck. I just do not see a point to spend $70/80 grand for something that stays on the street and someone can hit me because he was multitasking (driving and texting). It happened two times and my previous vehicle was totaled because of that. It is not fan when someone rear ends you and then the insurance company is trying to fix the car with aftermarket parts. Oh, it is the same quality and meets the OEM specs for half of the price. Yeah, a Toyota hitch may cost a grand or two, but they will put a $100 Curtis hitch.

As much as love this generation Tundra, the DC 04 - 06 is probably the best overall tundra. Extremely reliable 4.7, perfect amounts of space (6.5 ft bed and perfectly usable back seat space) and the ground clearance is literally 11.6" which is more than the 2nd and 3rd gen tundra. But mannnn that 5.7 rips!!!

I’ve had several trucks. My 2019 Tundra is my favorite. If my Tundra score is 100/100 then my 2023 Ram 1500 is a 95/100. I only subtracted 5 due to the Tundra being faaaaaar more reliable then the Ram. 😎

nice! I need to do this for my truck shortly! I like my Tundra, but sometimes it is too much truck, mine has some quirks, but the dealer is working on some of those issues with me, so its really just first world problems! Mine just reached 5K!

My 2020 Tacoma did well for me, being a fully loaded Sport. But I traded it for a 2021 Tundra Nightshade in Mag-Grey. You realize that the 3rd Gen Tacoma was……reallllyyyyyy slow. The torque on the Tundy is my fave. No more revving to 5k RPM.

Considering that Toyota only sold 107k Tundras in 2020(US and Canada), there aren't going to be a slew of aftermarket parts. 2020 Platinum 4x4 driver!

I honestly didn’t feel much difference, I dunno didn’t seem as big as I heard it was. I do have the double cab with the 6.7ft bed. Turning radius is actually pretty damn good for a larger truck. I’m also coming from a Tacoma

Toyota using high grade plastic. Realistically, all cars have plastic interiors, other manufacturers covers cheap plastic with pleather and fo carbon. I sat on old M3s with interior trim rattles, while an old corolla was still solid.

I went from a Tacoma TRD sport to a Platinum Tundra. I wish there was a T-100 size available. The Tacoma issues 1. Back seat area is too Small. Can’t even put a small cooler On the floor behind the seat. 2. Having predator steps is worthless as the cab height is so short. 3. Only issue was blind spot monitoring went out. Tundra. 1. Lumber wagon. Issues= fuel pump and timing chain tensioner both under warranty. Toyota paint quality is poor but I have had Ford, Dodge,GM and Nissan and not going back.

Such a good comment! I agree the I looked for a T100 or 2006ish tundra but wasn't able to find one! This tundra paint already has little rust spots but oh well. I look forward to owning this for many more miles!

@@OfficialAing Coachbuilder Shackles, DS grab handle are two mods that are needed ..also adjust parking brake and throw some old man emu yellow shocks over the stock black toyota oem softies.

Coming from a 2020 Tacoma, my blind spot monitoring took a shit something when it hit 30k? I dunno I never really used it but yeah I agree with you on the back seat being too small. I recently got a 2017 tundra double cab because I wanted the bed length, I’d never have a 5ft bed again.
