Women getting educated about feminism from the industry that created the casting couch. Thanks for the fair review wicked.

Think about this. Fine, Barbie is to girls what Transformers is to boys. Fair assessment. But then just like the Transformers movies, they shove real world human drama. Love it or hate it, everyone agrees this movie should've been set in Barbieland. This could've been Zootopia, or Lego Movie. But instead we gotta shove 2023 American political beats into it. Barbie isn't a movie for girls. Its a movie for American women. Missed opportunity.

more like women getting educated about feminism from a feminist director making feministic movies

Grown man here. Saw it by myself lol. I gave it a 6/10 too. It paid lip service to a lot of issues without really addressing causes or solutions. Plus it didn't really reflect how the world currently isn't "patriarchal". Women outnumber men in colleges. Its messages are often mixed and/or conflicting with reality. Would have been better off as a straight up comedy than diving so much into feminism. Or just go all the way feminist and not just touch on issues only. Personally, I would have just enjoyed a focused Barbie and Ken romp more.

Only good thing about this movie is that it acknowledges that there is no way for feminism to exist without men consent. And only way for women to get that consent is through cheap manipulation with their sexuality, putting men against each other. So much about "We are all equal, and women can do it to!" Actually, very regressive ideas in regard to women if you think about it lol

@Strawberrybby132 Yeah, they should have just gone for a 90's flinstones or Addams Family vibe. Fun for everyone but especially girls. I dont know what the hell this movie was. I feel it will age really badly.

This movie could've done what the Lego Movie did. The Lego Movie was awesome. And it wasn't just "for little boys". I'm a boy, 90s kid, have sisters. This movie missed the mark so badly. It stopped being self aware when the left Barbieland, until the ending where they walk into a clinic to see if Barbie is a "real girl" now. Also, Ken is hardly an antagonist. He's the most sympathetic character. Margot Robbie's good hearted and wants to help this little girl. But then they turn Kenn into male Harley Quinn.

You seriously think Lego movie wasn’t mostly geared for boys??? Men are stupid

Whoever came up with the name 'Barbie Land' didn't get paid enough. You don't see that kind of genius every day.

Yeah it’s reminiscent of a child’s imagination usually fairly simple like “Barbie land” you wet flip flop! Cope

It’s a one time watch for me. Had some laughs, but overall, I felt it lacked in plot for the Mattel corp.I mainly saw it to see what the hype was about and of course Margot Robbie. The last act was very goofy as well. Subbed to your channel

Even though I didn't care to see the Barbie movie I do like seeing honest reviews of the movie. It's sad to see they think they can wrangle in the women audience and then try to give a big victimhood lecture to women especially from crooked hollywood.

This is such a weird movie. 🤔 Overall, I mostly enjoyed it. Dan Vasc needs to do the Ken song wearing a Kenough tank top.

No, I haven’t seen the Barbie movie. I did recently see the “I’m Just Ken” music video and song clip from the Grammys and Billie Eilish singing a slow Barbie song on stage. It was nice to hear your thoughts on it. Thank you for your insight. I might watch it one day but if not…shrug.

Will I see it on my own? Given what you've pointed out, and the fact I'm single, no, absolutely no interest...not even curiosity. For me, this is a movie I would only go see with my lady because she's excited about it and even if I don't like it, it's important to share those moments.

I just watched the movie and looked for a review before i was done but finished the movie and then watched your review. I do agree with you very much that some scenes and ideas got in the way of it actually being a movie and ended up being neither. It could have been so great, yet it is just mediocre. While some ideas had truth to them they were rooted in seemingly in anger. I think splitting up ken from barbie was a bad idea that is where i disagree though. I think that they could have kept that. I am a subscriber of the idea that women give men purpose and meaning and they could have gone with that. but together. seems like yet another way to individualize and while we all are individuals we are also very very deeply still tribal. anyway. too many ideas were touched upon in the movie as well and not being dealt with or not explored deeply enough but brushed off or considered from both sides.

In a world where they say how Boys can play with dolls, what a missed opportunity this movie was. They could've made this movie for all kids, instead of "just for girls". How's this for a story: Barbieland is the equal society. Ken and Barbie go to the real world because the corporation is looking to remove Ken from the line or something. THAT'S what makes him go bad. They realise in the real world, Barbie is marketed only to real girl and Ken is mad no other boys like playing with him. Have the movie maybe about a boy with a Barbie and Ken. Because his sister gave them to him because she's unwell. Take that gender dynamic and flip it on its head and tell a sweet story, instead of "patriarchy" and "vagina" and "Kens will remain subservient until real women take over the real world." What?! So another movie using the word "Feminism" without knowing what it is. They turned Barbie into a slave-owner/prison-general.

Was going to give it a chance. But once the actors started opening their mouths, I was out. After hearing people's reviews, I won't even use a free ticket to see it. I don't think I will even red box it.

Yours is the 3rd review I've seen from a female reviewer. You're thoughts are similar to theirs (Force of Light Entertainment & La Reina Creole). It seems like the "Barbie" aspects of the movie are great, but the "preachy" parts are annoying. And how much you love/hate the movie varies from person to person and how much the preachiness bothers you. Edited to add: Clownfish TV's review had similar thoughts (Geeky and Pinky Boo discussed the movie).
