We're coming up on the one year anniversary of this game's launch soon and I'm just now getting close to developing all parts of my island. I only reached 5 stars around a month ago. I feel I've mastered the casual pace that is probably intended for this game. Once March comes around and I can catch my last two deep sea creatures, I'll probably feel like I've done it all except for collecting all the art for the museum. The art may take a while given how often Redd shows up on my island...

Animal crossing has always been a collection game for me. Get every fruit tree, every flower color, every golden tool... And when you have them all, you've beaten it. Inviting friends over is so you can show off your collection and help them complete theirs. Even house design used to be all about having complete furniture sets. New horizons is a lot more about art and creativity, and showing your friends the funny or beautiful things you made.

What's insane about this game is that you can only have one island per switch, which means that the first person to play it gets to do everything and the second person using the switch has to sit on a barren island with no resources and no ability to progress the game at all, completely depending on person 1 to do stuff

I gave my kid a completely different controller so he could 'play' the game with my spouse. I'm first player because the switch and game were my birthday gift. Did this not hit me because he was like 4 and my own kid? Seriously though wtaf is up with that everyone after player 1 is lesser? Switch is used as a home console in a decent chunk of houses, and therefore they probably only have 1 switch. But it's either get another switch because another copy won't do, deal with being lesser, or don't play if you're not first.

Daisy Mae actually isn’t a money trap if you do a collective sail with your friends. So like, when your friends have good prizes you go to their island and sell, and when you do they come to your island and sell. That’s how I’ve gotten the majority of my bells. I had 6 mil, now 4 mil cuz I spent a lot on my house.
