This is so sad but true. So many missions trips are hurting the third world communities instead of helping them. Thank you for saying this in a way that is funny and makes people think.

DO YOU HAVE YOUR PASSPORT??

This is funny, but very true. Most so-called "mission trips" have almost nothing to do with actually reaching people with the gospel. They're more like vacations that people take to feel good about themselves.

I just came back from a trip where the pastor was telling everyone to keep the shopping trips and sightseeing on the down low so people back home don't get the wrong idea. Meanwhile his wife was putting everything on Facebook! Everything!

My former church refused to send me anywhere longer than 2 weeks, and then outright refused any support when I said that I wouldn't be taking photos, shooting video, nor doing a "missionary report" for the church when I got back. I wanted to stay as long as the Canadian government and Zambian government would allow, but in the end, when the church nowadays won't even do outreaches with the homeless, drug addicts and single mothers in the downtown...going overseas is all for show.

I'm a pastor in Mexico, american and Korean missionaries always come here to give out stuff and do construction work (improving the condition of church buildings... small houses... etc...) and while all that is highly appreciated by our people, hardly ever a missionary comes to preach the word of God or teach men and women how to serve Christ. most of the time is really just giving out free stuff, and to be honest with you, the people in Mexico are now used to that, they see a missionary, right away they think of the material blessing... in other words, instead of teaching the people how to fish, they bring the fish and give it away for free! I WISH MISSIONARIES WOULD UNDERSTAND that what the people's primary need is their spiritual need, an encounter with Jesus Christ... who cares if not as many show up because you're not giving out free stuff, as long as someone comes to true repentance and yields to the lordship of Jesus! I sadly admit that mexicans have been taught by american missionaries how to receive a blessing, to go to church unless there's something given out for free... I know it because after the missionaries leave, my church is back to the normal attendance of the members that were already there. and everyone else only comes during Christmas time or whenever the "gringos" show up... I hope you can understand where I'm coming from, yes we do appreciate the blessings, but we are in more desperate need for the word of God... may that be the priority for those that take on missionary trips to any part of the world. God bless you!!!

I posted pictures of myself with children from where I "served". I didn't even ask for their consent to plaster their faces oline. I deleted those pictures when I realized my intent in posting them was purely for self-promotion. My involvement in missions was not only meaningless, but destructive.

As a missionary I have seen both types of short term mission groups. The ones that come down with purpose and really doing change lives and eternities. And the others that are just here for a vacation, which is terribly frustrating.

As a Worker in a "prohibitive" country, I've appreciated each sentence and each utterance in this video. THANKS! Hope people get the message.

excellent point as usual, this was hallarious, Its good to remind ourselves of our own stupidity every once in a while, that we can easily fall back into sin if we have the wrong motives.
