Insurance agent here: another CON you should have mentioned is the expensive auto insurance. Michigan is the most expensive in the country because we have Unlimited PIP Medical Coverage. And even if you buy down to $250K it’s still higher than almost every other state. Most states it’s between $5,000 and $25,000 in medical coverage if you get in an accident. But you don’t get the other benefits like OT/PT or lawn/snow service if you can’t do it cuz you were hurt in an accident.
@PaulWolfert6 ай бұрын
I talk about that in a few other videos. Crazy how much we pay for auto insurance and most families have more than one car.

I have lived in 7 states and am so glad that I was finally able to move back. Michigan has so much natural beauty and recreation activities. The summers aren’t too hot and the winters aren’t too cold. In Metro Detroit, there’s never a lot of snow and the land is flat enough so driving on it is easier. I say this as someone who lived in Wisconsin for over 10 years. The state universities are excellent! Public transportation is scandalous for its absence. This is a major issue!

Living in Chicago, where we often get the storms the day before Michigan, I find it funny when schools are closed in Michigan long before the weather even arrives. Chicago Public Schools seem to wait until there's at least a foot of snow WITH sub zero temps before they will close, while schools in Michigan won't take any chances and close even if it turns out to be a false alarm. I own a condo here and always intended to move back to Michigan one day to buy a house because the houses in Chicago cost much more. Hey Paul! Thank you for the amazing video! My wife and I live outside of Orlando, FL and the cost of living is becoming insane and we are considering relocating. My wife and I both love how beautiful Michigan is and are heavily considering it. With that said, we think the west side of Michigan is going to be our best bet, but we aren't 100% set on this idea. Considering our wishlist, how realistic is moving up there? (see below) - Price: Under $350k - 3/2 or larger / at least 1200 sq feet - Good/reliable internet for WFH - No HOA - Not inside a major city, but ideally less than 40 mins from one (for dr visits and so on) - Close(ish) to water. Coming from FL, fishing and boating is a big part of our life, so we are looking for an area with good fishing and boating opportunities. - Is safe with low crime rates (next to price, this is our number one priority) - A fence ;) lol (jk, but at least an area that allows one, we have dogs) With all of this said, where should we look and is the price of $350k or under reasonable for our desires? In Florida, if you dig a basement chances are good you'll be in the water table. For that matter, our 5 years in Hillman, the sump pump died twice, flooding the basement and causing black mold on the dry wall a previous resident had put in. And fences aren't always great. We now live in western NC and last fall I investigated a crack I heard in the back yard when I was out front. The crack was the black bear that had climbed over the back fence, breaking part of the fence in the process. sigh. At least the wild turkeys don't bother the fence.

I’d like that explained. Home prices not the relative bargain they were for the last 30 years. And they’ve spread out much further into the countryside. Again I don’t understand all the new homes I see if the population is stagnate. Property taxes are very stiff for new buyers, I believe this is under stated nor understood. I think the COL is decent, although it depends where you are. Actually up north living is fairly expensive. Michigan is a great place overall. We don't know which area to move into -- we just know we want to live far enough away from the family so that they have to actually plan ahead to visit.😆 Which is the greater Detroit area. In addition, Mom doesn't want to live anywhere in SW Michigan (?given me no logical explanation?) and I'm afraid to move anywhere too politically...um...divided. I'm thinking purple and neutral and calm. We're coming from Florida.🙄 Since neither of us have been home for decades we're having trouble separating fact from rumor. We know we probably can't go too rural for reasons mentioned and smaller cities that haven't yet been weaponized are perfectly fine. I'm making us sound crazier than we actually are. I am aware of that.😅 TL;DR Upper or lower doesn't matter; woodsy, cheap and safe are the priorities. Any chance there's a region with our name on it?

Detroit Michigan LEAVING 1967 riot lost 50% of white people i was there
@JNoMooreNumbers4 ай бұрын
My parents fled there in 67. I fled a burbs near there 8 years just in time. Very dangerous in no time. After crime starting and a shooting behind the house, I called my realtor cousin to sell the place.

@@toddd7444 Well there was a stalker too. Crazy af. Delusional, bi polar and narcissistic. Had guns and if you've been institutionalized not supposed to have them or can't buy one at a shop. Background check fail right there. Plus been wanting a more country quiet type setting anyway. It's like a wildlife sanctuary out there.😁Heard banging around. Checked and a raccoon wreaking havoc🤦♀️. Still a better neighbor than many.😆

I've lived in Michigan for 67 years now. The 2 worst things about Michigan are Detroit (Don't go there)and its governor. FGW

Saginaw, Flint, all the big cities avoid like the plague. Scary to drive through even. Out of cities now and going into one I feel claustrophobic and head on a swivel.

Let's think a minute. The west, fire, earthquake, landslides, and droughts. East coast, those pesky Hurricanes, that can rearrange your life. The mid west, oh yeah. Those lovely tornadoes. God's way of getting a good laugh. So you thought you could do that? Ha ha! Droughts that challenge your Ingenuity.

The headlines on your videos make Detroit and all of Michigan look horrible. If I was considering moving there I would never even watch the vid after reading the headline..Why do you do that?? It seems like you are selling things in MI but you tell people how horrible it is before they can view the "information" - You're advertising it to be a very bad bad place to go or live...

Thanks for the feedback! Hope you watched a few 🙂 Unfortunately, that's the way KZbin works. Negative thumbnails outperform positive ones BUT, the information isn't negative. I've made a lot of positive thumbnails and the videos completely tank until I change them.

Don't move to Michigan. You won't like it... The people aren't very friendly.

I have found People are much nicer since I moved South. Michigan is not cheap whatsoever. In Florida now and it's a toss up financially. I can make more money in Michigan but then there are State taxes, higher housing and property taxes. People think Florida is expensive but my Florida house would double in price if I put it in Oakland county. Gas and Insurance are always high too.
