The chorus is intentionally made like that. To give you the feeling that he wants to shout to the World but his screams are caged in the box. This is really well made. I'm beyond proud.

Yes!!!! 100%! The effect of the muffled vocals during the chorus is to indicate that he is inside the closed box. Brilliant!

Actually, when I first listened to Hobi's "more" I got chills TwT I was shocked, he really showed a new face with this song, the fact that he used rock and hip-hop elements and went SO HARD with the rock influences on the chorus was amazing like sdkjhgksdgbg He nailed for sure T.T

Hobi walked a knife-edge here, to show that he's still part of BTS and HYBE while being his own man as an artist. I think the own-man-as-an-artist part potentially scares some ARMYs, and anticipating that kind of reaction could be one reason why he has chosen to tell this story using elements of visual monsterism. I think this concept, production, and the music are far from dark. In fact I think this is the most explosively-powerful statement of the potential for joy that can be derived from an artist's autonomy and creativity I've ever seen in a single music video. The first few times I watched Hobi's MV, I had the same reaction each time, my face slowly grew a big grin while my body wanted to dance. The more I watch it now, the more I understand it expresses where Hobi is on his journey, and the more I treat with simple pure respect.

This song, I agree, the lighting may be low but the words are far from dark. 'It's so sweet, like a KitKat-' 'I want more stadiums with my fans, I want trophies and grammys, but I know fame and wealth aren't the goal'. The goal is the music- 'My work makes me breathe so I want more.' And he's finally getting to make the music for himself, Jung Hoseok, instead of for his group. Now, he did say he's going to show his hidden, shadow side in J-i-t-B, so we will hear some genuinely dark stuff...but this ain't it yet. This is just warming up.

J-Hope is a baddie and a genius simultaneously. He doesn't go with the flow or the repetitive stereotype of Kpop genres. He is so unique and bold. He legit did a huge risk to go against the usual Kpop and it's really admirable. There are some points in MV I wanna let you know (Apart from the concept which is directly connected to 'Jack in the box' story) : 9:53 "KitKat" has a double meaning here; In Japanese Kit Kat sounds like "kitto katus", which means "you are sure to succeed" or more literally translated as "surely win". Meaning that whatever he does he is bound to succeed. 10:03 he is referring to "Salvador Dali", a famous painter who is known for having a variety of artistic styles and surrealism paintings (He is the painter of " the persistence of memory", better known as the melting clock painting) and the x-ray scene resonates so much with Dali's "Dancer-Skull" painting which was completed in 1932. if you see the painting you see the reference, it was so brilliant! (Dali) here, also actually has a very cool double meaning. In Korean (Dali) means differently, so that line can also be translated to something like "drunk in the artistic paintings, I throw myself out there 'differently' " 11:39 (I'm in my element) is a rough translation of "I'm a fish that met water" and it just links the whole verse together so nicely with water imaginary ( Yeah, I'm thirsty / I need to go surfin' on the beat / I'm a fish who just met water/ Soak up the music) You see his lyricism is beyond. Chef's kiss. There are lots of references to the movie Fight Club (1999) and also the Jack in the Box movie's main story too. And you pointed it out that some screams sound far as if he is in the background and that's true. He mightily is portraying screaming in a box (Jack in the box) and the way he's trying to let out his emotion and to break his idol image stereotype which is boxing around him and is limiting his artistic career. There are a lot about this album actually, the details are sick. so brilliant and genius of him, working 4 years on this masterpiece. And Aaron, This banger track is actually a b-side and pre-release not the main title. The main totle, along with the whole album is going to be released on July 15. Also, Jhope is the Headliner of the Lollapalooza festival on July 31! So We are going to witness these masterpieces live :) Thank you for your reaction.

His album is call "Jack in the Box" To me the MV makes a lot of sense. When you turn the handle of jack-in-the-box the Jester comes out and you'll be either surprised or jump scared, (in the MV one of Hobi's persona is dressed as a Jester) This is what Hobi is trying to tell us, there is another side of him beside the sunshine side he chose to show us, this is something what is going on inside him and he is sharing it with us. At the end of the MV he closes the box as if we put Jester back into the box for next play and play more with it. Also, usually Jack-in-the-box are colorful outside and attractive. As for the chorus, why it sounded distance, I think he want to show us this is something that is shouting within/inside him. These are my thoughts

He is actually bringing back the 80s/90s gangster punk grunge rock style back even though it’s risky and I haven’t heard this type of style in a while also this isn’t even his title song his title song (and his “screams” etc is pretty muted because it feels like he is trapped in a box)

@@nelcha Seo Taiji is like a very OG of 1st generation Kpop. Hoseok combined punk rock, and rap with hip-hop old school, and blended them so well, that I don't see anyone in the new generation dare to go that way. He did something revolutionary. considering how narrow-minded K-Netz are when it comes to new styles, regarded as "non-kpop" genres. he literally took so many risks for this. And this is seriously admirable.

The music video actually is connected to the album's concept (Jack in the Box). The whole set is inspired by the movies Fight Club (1999) and Jack in the box main theme. His concept is so new, detailed, and well thought out, and if you catch up with the real meaning behind 'Jack in the box' You will find it so much connected actually, Aaron. His band's makeup is also inspired by that theme. His album is going to say a whole story, as Hoseok said, and tracks are in order apparently. We gotta wait for the title track and the rest on July 15 to get a whole better look of the main theme.

IMO, this song may shock many or at least some people. the main reason is probably not the dark concept (it's actually still in a positive way even it may look dark) but rather the song itself. it is not a typical Kpop song people usually watch/hear but rather with more rock, punk and a little metal vibes in it. people, especially the international Kpop fans, may think Korean music has only Kpop or only means Kpop. in fact Korean music includes all kinds of different music genre from jazz, rap, rock to anything you name it. however it is just that Kpop is the most known and popular music genre to the world domestically and internationally. Kpop is just overshadowing all other music in Korea but it doesn't mean they don't exist or not being heard by people. I guess J-hope just wanna to break free from the stereotype of Kpop and explore something new or something less being paid attention to. with who he is and where he stands, he can afford to do it with or without the worrying of the consequences he may get with this new 'sound' solo album. Personally I thinks "more" is a great song as I am no stranger to the western rock vibes music even I may not be a complete rock (or heavy metal) fan. BTW he is gonna rock and hype up the whole crowd at lollapalooza 2022 in Chicago.

13:01 "don't find the direct connection to the guys looking like that" Aaron, the title track is called "ARSON" which hasn't been released yet. (Arson |noun| = the criminal act of deliberately setting fire to property.) Makes a lot more sense now as to why those dude's faces look burnt, doesn't it? Hobi said his entire album has a common theme and a story sequence running along with it. "More" is just a pre-release track but since his entire album has an interconnected story it all makes sense! We'll discover way more once we get to listen to the full album!

Actually, the video is completely related to the lyrics, in addition, the video has references to the movie of the fight club, so the musicians behind J-hope are burned with acid, like the movie, the fight club is a critical reflection on society and consumerism, J-hope mentions about how he no longer cares about trophies and vain things but he has a great artistic ambition and wants more. J-hope got passion, and he´s gotta go since he is not satisfied yet. Jack in the box is coming and I can´t wait. Stream More on all platforms please. the album title is "jack in the box". that's why the mv concept is like that. the album is most probably filled with surprises as this type of music is unheard of in kpop. i'm proud of what hobi tried to achieve here, a sound unheard of in kpop, but also expressed his thoughts and showed a different side of him in the song. this kind of songs are mostly heard back in the 80s and early 90s. i believe it's called grunge. personally, i think the song is explosive as no one expected hobi's song to sound like this. everyone's expecting CNS or Ego-like bop. but just like the album title, hobi surprised everyone with this. and i love it 💜

This genre is very reminiscent of the old kpop rock scene in the mid 90s by artists like Yoon Dohyun and Seo Taiji in particular but is very modernised to his own style for sure.
