Blake is a music producer and singer-songwriter that hosts a live podcast geared to helping musicians and producers navigate their music career in a really grounded way. Blake started his career at the age of 15, writing and performing music in bands, and was offered his first publishing contract at the age of 17 years old.
While playing around the state of Texas as a singer-songwriter, Blake ventured into producing albums for local bands in his hometown of Houston, Texas. He quickly established a reputation of becoming the 'go-to' producer for his signature vintage-retro sound. He began mentoring the artists and bands that he worked with, helping align their careers with their goals. As the internet began shaping the music landscape with streaming, Blake then shifted his career into digital marketing strategies and online artist development.
In 2017 he was then hired to run the Music Career Development department of the Los Angeles Film School. After separating with the college in 2022 due creative differences, Blake moved to Gruene, Texas and started his own podcast and music development system aimed to mentor young musicians. He also wrote a book encompassing his entire music system's strategy guide. You can grab a free digital copy of his book here: bit.ly/freemusicbook

Yes he freaking will!! I am an old lady mom 55 yrs old whose 17 year old daughter played BTS so much I got hooked. We went to the PTD concert in Vegas on the last day, was absolutely Phenomenal!!! I am now more than hooked, but I gotta say JHOPE, seriously, this handsome, talented, caring, human being, the talent he has??!! OMG, he’s more then brilliant. I love rock, classic rock, head banger music, rap, alternative, hip hop, soul, whatever. MORE is a mixture of all of this with telling the story of a compassionate human who worked hard at his craft and succeeded. I want my daughter and our children to learn/understand that the only way to succeed is to work hard!!! Anything less is inexcusable. Hard work pays off, no work get you nowhere. This MORE, OMG, freaking amazing!!!! JHOPE, this mom loves u so much!!!! Please continue to be the humble human being you are and keep setting the example for our children to learn from! I would so much love to be able to follow your legit Instagram account 💚🕺🎤👩‍🎤🕺🕺

This Emo-Angst-rapper-rocker side of Jhope hits on another level. He is multi talented and faceted with different personalities but I feel this one was screaming to come out!! There is so much fucking awesomeness happening in 3 minutes. I absolutely LOVE this song. He is not messing around. And the video speaks volumes as to what he didn't say in the song... Jhope is the shit. He's taken on a sunny persona in BTS for many years, but hinted along the way that he felt limited by that image. I am SO stoked that this "Jack" is out of the box because his stage presence is amazing, this dude was born to perform and I always knew there was more to him than sunshine and rainbows! BTS doesn't have a lot of rock-infused music (maybe in the future!?), but they go hard in Mic Drop, Outro: Tear, Boy Meets Evil (Jhope solo), FIRE, and any of the Cypher songs. Also check out Dope and Black Swan just cuz they're awesome. 😉 As a fan of RATM, Tool, Alice in Chains, Zepplin, etc. I never thought I would be a boy band fan but these guys have wrecked me lol. Welcome to ARMY!!

Can't wait till his album drops on July 15. He's having so much fun...good for him. If this is what we should expect while the members are on a "break" we might not survive. You might want to put on the closed caption translations.

Expect the unexpected with BTS. 😂 Truly. I screamed at the chorus!!! Coming into BTS after enjoying nu metal in my youth, I am so happy, Hobi made this track. He is a very very interesting, experimental artist. Try his Hope World mixtape. Piece of Peace and Blue Side from it blew me away. And the whole mixtape is fire. And in BTS songs his track Boy Meets Evil really made me notice him. Once you start digging into BTS, you start realising how much talent is in each of them. They are all very different but everyone is so good in their own way. And yes, there is k rock. I'm sure other people will recommend someone, but off the top of my head, Woosung's latest Phase Me is cool. Need Somebody by Day6 is pretty awesome too.

I don’t recommend _only_ using the captions on their MVs though-they are often oversimplified to the point where it takes away from the true sentiment. The Doolset Bangtan blog seems to be the most highly recommended place to go for the English translations
@serixskylark
@serixskylark Жыл бұрын
@@NatalieMarie917 that’s fair, but often the captions on the music videos are like that so it looks better on paper. The true translations are important, but there’s nothing wrong with them taking some liberties with the captions on the videos so it flows better as long as it doesn’t stray too far from what the Korean lyrics are saying. I feel like we need to start saying to use both the captions while watching and then check the site after, so they can appreciate both the deeper lyrics and the flows of the simplified lyrics.

This is a single off of J-hope’s new solo album that is supposed to release later this month. He already has one called ‘Hope world’. That EP falls more along the lines of rap and hip hop, with a little R&B edge. That’s why so many ARMY were freaking out when he dropped ‘More’. It’s a complete change in sound and honestly I’m living for it. J hope also has solo songs on BTS’ official albums. ‘Boy meets evil’ , ‘Ego’ , and ‘Just dance’ to name a few that you should totally check out. Also feel free to listen to ‘Hope World’ as well. Whenever you feel comfortable calling yourself an ARMY is when you become one in my opinion. As long as you support the boys and want them to succeed in whatever they do, I’d consider you ARMY. It’d be nice for you to be OT7 but not everyone is and it’s understandable that people tend to gravitate towards one or two people in a group. Whoever you tend to gravitate towards is your bias (another way to say favorite). So you’d be ARMY, and your bias is J Hope. I hope that made sense. I love listening to your commentary and watching your reactions. Have a wonderful day, and remember to keep strong and love yourself 💜

His other mixtape Hope World was the complete opposite to this. Hobi is our sunshine. He's always "up", always smiling and laughing. No one expected this and we LOVE IT! The name of his new album is called Jack in the box. I hope his whole album will be like this. J Hope's other songs are happy and upbeat. He is the perfect front man but in BTS he doesn't get to shine often. I'm happy he's in the spotlight. Most ARMY and Hobi "BIAS" don't realize he has a darker side because he tries to be positive and bring the energy. I paid attention to how he behaves and talks when he doesn't know the camera is on him. I was expecting this darker side. He did not disappoint.

Us metal/rock/ARMY fans are so so happy right now. Your face as you watched was awesome, and your excitement as you watched was me. Love me some grunge rock and J-Hope brought it. J-Hope’s mixtape is full of unique songs. Some think they are all light and sunshine and often the music is, but the lyrics go deep. In line with More, sort of, are the BTS rap line/BTS J-Hope songs, I think. Although his Airplane has a darker music line, but it’s not rock really. His music isn’t all that easily captured with a single genre. You can almost always feel his dance background in his music, btw, but yeah, he mixes things up. I’d rec Outro:Tear - the performance at Wembley if you want to see one of the best performances live ever, Boy Meets Evil (too short though), Ugh!, Ddaeng, and the Cyphers (start with 1 and go through all 4 of them, J-Hope wasn’t a rapper before BTS, he was a street dancer, one of the best in SK, and he isn’t that strong in #1, but by #3, he’s there, and I think it is beautiful to watch him grow through those). Honestly, I can’t choose between the 3 BTS rappers, I’m a HUGE SUGA fan, HUGE, his Agust D work is everything, and RM is just god tier, but J-Hope, he’s special. He’s a different kind of rapper. With More, he just raised the bar really really high. I can’t wait for the full album.

Holy shit....J-hope surprised everyone and revolutionized the k-pop industry, in a few words he showed how eclectic and professional he is, now more than ever, because he can show what he knows how to do without being tied to restrictions of a contract and that is why he is thirsty for music in the universal sense, and that prizes are not worth more than doing what you love and being able to breathe and shout that "The best is yet to come". Many won't understand what to be between the lines because they are melodic fans who only expect luxurious mv's and in the 'standard' k-pop, but they are not just that, they are much more than just BTS members, they are human beings with different visions and refined tastes and that's why they can't be stuck to a single rhythm, they are pop, rock, jazzz, react, r&b etc..... CONGRATULATIONS J-HOPE, what an epic and powerful song, the dark exists in all of us, and is the best version of ourselves. A true fan respects their idol's choices and supports him unconditionally, they don't just have to do what we like, but also what they like. CONGRATULATIONS J-HOPE, SHOUT OUT, BREATHE, BECAUSE THE SKY IS THE LIMIT. I LOVED THE REVOLUTIONARY SURPRISE IN EVERY WAY., let the other members come. THANK YOU FOR THIS PIECE OF ART THAT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. 💗👏👏👏👏👏👏😍

j-hope is the most versatile artist of our generation. Like you never know how this man is going to come onto a song. He sings and raps at such a high level and stylistically fits somewhere in between Snoop Dog, Daft Punk, Bruno Mars, and now the Gorillaz. Like he really can do anything. He started his career as a street dancer and was so good at that he won a National Championship in hip hop dance in 2008 (Boogaloo was his primary style but he has mastered so many street styles and I personally love his animation best). So he's got prodigy level musicality which gives him the ability to make sure everything hits just right. His verses are always everyone's favorite part of a song. Lyrically, he comes off playful and optimistic but translators always say he's the most challenging to translate for because he is so referential and often to multiple degrees (referring to something that refers to another thing that's a play on words for another thing) and he does a lot of research for his writing so often the references are to cult films or classic literature or dialect-specific street slang or obscure economic principles or ancient historical eras...and then he presents ideas abstractly (a function of the Korean language) so sometimes they're difficult to contextualize. And then on top of that he sometimes uses words as onomatopoeia (or vice versa) so he'll say "beeper" but say it like the sound of a beeper beeping...And on top of all that his number 1 strength (of 100) is performing. He's the Dance and Performance Leader of BTS and it's ARMY canon that if you see BTS live, you leave the venue j-hope biased. As a person he's bright and cheery and full of energy, ridiculously kind and considerate, and also really swaggy, and he's also hyper-professional and organized/tidy. As an artist, he's just one of a kind. I really think he's blazing his own trail in the music industry. I'm so excited to hear the rest of his album and see him headline Lollapalooza at the end of the month!

I don’t know many Korean rock artists but Seo Taiji is one of the most influential artists. I still love his music. He blended rap/rock like this. It still amazes me that Jhope, a dancer, who had no knowledge of writing music, didn’t know how to rap, ended up becoming such a genius writer. He has a natural grit to his voice so this style works for him. So good!

Some of the points I agree with: 1. its not easy to blend different genres into one. - You are right. However, J-hope (and all BTS members) do not stick to one genre. That's why their discography is soo diverse. 2. One of the best rock song ever made. - As rock/punk/heavy metal enthusiast More is a breathe of fresh air. It has been a while since a I listened to an awesome rock song 3. What are J-hopes other songs. - Other songs made by Jhope are under different genre. But bop as well. If you will dig deeper to BTS as a whole or Jhopes discography, you will see how versatile they are as an artist. If ever you became a fan, welcome to the purple world. ☺️💜

Thanks for your reaction. Please make sure to check & enable CC/subs with any BTS-related content because BTS are so globally huge that they have to accommodate their fans (approximately 50 million souls) outside of S.Korea that do not understand Korean language. Yes, K-Rock is a thing, but BTS was born in the K-Pop industry because of their relationship to hiphop/pop/RnB. Since you are somewhat new to BTS & KPop, here is something that you are probably not aware of... K-Pop is primarily pop (well, duh), hiphop & rhythm&blues, with a smidgen of other genres. But here's the thing... KPop was ushered in (inadvertently) by a rock/metal musician. Weird, huh? It's a complex story so I won't get into it here. That metal musician I speak of goes by the name Seo Taiji. He is considered the "Father of KPop". Any bands that have since been made in KPop, including BTS, would then be considered his "children". Taiji has collaborated with BTS before & BTS has covered at least one of Taiji's songs. If you want just a little more "rock BTS", please react to Seo Taiji x BTS "Classroom Idea" from the Time Traveler 2017 concert. You can find a 6-minute or 8-minute clip of it on KZbin & it has captions. Or I can give you links if you can't find it. If you also want to react to Seo Taiji, the legend himself, you can start off with something like his "Feel the Soul" music video from 2 decades ago. There are several others, but you can start there. His heyday was mainly 20-30 years ago but he is still musically active since then. Unfortunately, Taiji does not put captions on most of his videos, so you will have to google lyrics & their meanings. Have fun.

Well, yea, I guess one might say that "K-Rock is a thing". (Just for the records "the term K-pop" is quite controversial, and many argue that it is not used to describe a genre but the name of the industry that creates idols). J-Hope has a previous mixtape called "Hope world": I love it, but it's completely different, definitely more leaning toward hip-hop. I think BTS have many amazing songs, however, they are a hip-hop/pop-based group, and there isn't much in terms of rock. I guess you could try ON: Kinetic Manifesto, Fake Love (both the original version and the literal rock one) and you could try to dive a little in the Cypher series (1-4) by the rap line. If you want to delve particularly into J-Hope music, soon he will headline Lollapalooza in Chicago! Well, I don't know if it might help you" follow" the song better, but subtitles in English are always available (and definitely important for a group lyrically driven as BTS is). I think you might love the special concert BTS held a few years ago with Seo Taiji a pop/rock legend in South Korea. On a sillier note: Taehyung of BTS is actually in the video as one of the employees, did you notice that? :-)

Jung Hoseok (J-hope) has a sunny persona but he is way more than that and More proves that and Jhope is starting to show more of his dark and raw sound and persona Solo songs of jhope: - 1 Verse released in 2015 ( samples The Game's "El Chapo" featuring Skrillex, he sends his haters a powerful message: Their words don't matter to him. Ironically, since his haters keep listening to his music to criticize it, his words obviously hold meaning to them, however. "Shut your mouth and listen to this verse. This flow’s atmosphere is like a salute," J-Hope says on the track.) - Intro: Boy Meets Evil released in 2016 (intro of BTS album wings, the song sets the mood for the album's overall dark sound. In just two minutes, J-Hope takes listeners on an emotional journey, reflected by the song's gradual build up to its climax. J-Hope's ability to effortlessly switch from soft, sensual singing to hardcore rapping is another example of his masterful duality.) - MAMA from wings as well (the song is upbeat because it serves as a thank you message to J-Hope's mother, who helped shape the person he is today. Starting with the sound of an old film camera playing back, the song gives off a nostalgic feeling because it shares an overview of J-Hope and his mother's close relationship.) - His mixtape from 2018 Hope World has 7 tracks: Hope World, Piece of peace, daydream, base line, hangsang, airplane pt 1 and outro Blue side (The songs are very lively and the aesthetics are colorful but don't be fooled because the lyrics are still deep for example in In "Daydream," he admits he occasionally feels like he's living two different lives: One as a public figure and the other as his private self. Although he feels like any other guy in his twenties, he knows he has a responsibility to be a role model for fans, so he tries his best to be a glimmer of hope for them. "I want to fill up that belief like a simple piece of cake that fills one's stomach," J-Hope says on "P.O.P (Piece of Piece) pt. 1.") - 2018 Trivia: Just Dance is part of BTS album Love Yourself: Answer (In this song, J-Hope uses his passion for dance to tell the story of two people falling in love. He beautifully compares finding the right person to being on the same rhythm as them. "My dreams that once had no answer, now becomes something we can relate to. Because our rhythm is matching, because we have our dance, it’s a fate-like beat," he sings.) - 2020 Outro: Ego part of BTS album Map Of The Soul: 7 (Ego" is another one of his uplifting bops with a serious message underneath. J-Hope sings about the obstacles he's had to face to achieve his dreams, including self-doubt. "My dancing was chasing ghosts. Blaming my dream, asking why I live and breathe," he sings on the second verse.) - 2021 Blue Side Full Version (J-Hope released this song, a full version of his mixtape outro Blue Side, on the three-year anniversary of his first mixtape, Hope World. In his March 2018 V Live in celebration of the release of Hope World, J-Hope said that the he had made the song three years ago as the first song he made after 1 VERSE. He was really into the “blue vibe” - a feeling that wind and sky would bring. Although he didn’t begin with a big agenda when writing this song, he said this song brings him back to the days when he was naive and clueless - “blue sky and wind that are full of good memories.”)
