Honest Review Of Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works

In This Video, I will be giving my honest review of the anime Fate Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works, and ranking the characters on a tier list! This will be part of a multiple-part series where I go through as many of the Fate series until I lose my mind. My content is satire in nature and while it may sound like I disliked the anime it's mostly bad jokes. I will be talking about what makes it one of the greatest animes of all time... by insulting everything about it. Season 1 of this anime was released in 2014. There are currently only two seasons and there are so many more branches but this series has reached a conclusion. There is a manga that you can read, so I recommend reading it even though I have no idea what happens. This video contains light spoilers, so be aware if you plan on watching the anime or reading the manga. If you do happen to read this much by some miracle, I am always open to suggestions, whether new content or problems with the videos. I will now list character names to boost my chances in the algorithm. Actually was rewatching this and thought about Rin's statement of lancer being servant or not, at first I thought yeah that's kinda stupid that she says lancer is servant or not, then realized wait... Don't we have people in Nasuverse who aren't servants and have crazy clothes plus crazy weapons lying around in their hand? At first Bazzet came to mind and then some Melty blood characteres... So yeah, every fate dialouge can be analyzed in some way and you'll get so much info out of it if you did your research or just looked up at the subtle nuance in between.

Shirou was Nasu's venue to deliver his recontextualized philosophy. If localized correctly, it should have read like "Just because your logic is sound doesn't mean it's the ethical choice." Idealism values altruistic hope. Cynicism values brutal honesty. By archer even existing as a servant, it already gave shirou the upper hand as if the throne of heroes considered him one then his dreams are a success

It's just that the more your legend is ancient and important, the stronger it gets: an ancient myth has already proven to be able to withstand the test of time, so it is able to create stronger heroes. Take Frankenstein in Apocrypha, for example. She's a spirit born in the 19th century. So, despite the fact that she is the protagonist of one of the most famous tales of our modern times, she wasn't very strong. Heroic Spirits born after her are still "in the making", so it still isn't possible to summon them. That doesn't mean that they won't be summonable in the future though. That being said, there are definitely way less myths these days, so the potential to create heroic spirits is still reduced. There is also way less mana in the world, so it is harder to perform feats so impressive that they get passed down through the generations. Still possible though. Case in point: Jack the Ripper. Her legend started to take shape in the *20th* century, and yet she's still relatively strong.

This isn't necessarily directed at anyone more than it is a general statement I do want to mention that any time it seems like the show keeps giving Shirou 'plot armour' it's usually explained in the VN. For example all those times you see Shirou survive miraculously is because you don't see any of the 40 different Bad Ends that can happen in the novel, and with something like beating Gil the best way to explain it would be "Would you use a nuclear missile on an ant?" which was Gil's thought process during the fight. The fight in the VN was generally just much shorter with Shirou giving Gilgamesh pretty much zero time to gather himself and basically stayed on his ass the whole time, overwhelming him. Sorry for the long comment lol, I'm just a huge fan of Fate so I can't help it sometimes lol, one more thing I wanna say though: PLEASE PLAY HOLLOW ATARAXIA AFTER HEAVEN'S FEEL PLEASE IT'S SO GOOOOD (HA is the direct sequel to F/SN)

@@user-tp6gz7dp3v for me, it was a bit more complicated. Shirou fell in love with Saber; he didn't want to lose her (as she wanted to go back to her time and change the past). Many times he explained to her that past shouldn't be changed because it will be a disrespect for those people who went through all those aftereffects of the civil war, grieved and moved on (kind of same story as him being a victim as he also survived the 10years ago fire but many died and he couldn't save them. He regrets but that doesn't mean he'll change the past).

One thing I liked about Fate route compared to other 2 routes adaptation is that Shirou himself fell in love with Saber, and as the story proceeds Saber too fell in love with him as they shared something in common, they had a mutual understanding. But in other two routes, Shirou just got dragged to both the girl's romance because he's the protagonist and the only male guy in the whole series to be kind and useful to them, and Shirou wasn't even ready for that yet he just surprisingly agrees to their proposal without showing a proper and strong reason as why he accepted. ( he was like: 'ok got it I accept, put me into your harem' )

As the story proceeds, he gradually understood her motives, her feelings, and at the end he made a better and mature decision of letting her to finish her mission, Hence, letting her soul to finally rest in peace. It was a good ending.

When people say shirou isn't understood, it's not a meme to deflect from him not being written well like some other main characters in fiction, but because most of his justification and personal nuance come in the form of his thoughts and monologues that you the player are supposed to be spoonfed throughout the routes that just either don't exist in the anime adaptions or are severely reduced. Relying on "show don't tell" is probably one of the biggest misfires of all of the fate stay night anime adaptions when the visual novel relies so heavily on how it relays not just shirou but the entire cast. The entire cast is largely mischaracterized due to the adaptions messing up the subtle structure of the story(and zero itself changes certain characters based on its own version of the story like saber and kirei which doesn't help matters) For example you started with zero which is already an issue which I mentioned in passing. But then you went into ufotables ubw 2014, missing 1/3rd of the whole story on the face of it with a lot of critical content that the actual plot assumes you know, but ufotable is trying to fill in with zero information that doesn't really work very well because zero is only partly a prequel, and only meant to be seen experienced after you know everything about fsn. So characters in anime form are just kind of standing around doing nothing in particular or not really relevant at all when that couldent be further from the truth. I know it just sounds complicated just tldr ; how the content is portrayed anime wise is not how it was originally meant to be consumed and is not portrayed in that fashion, so is largely seen as fansevice for Japanese fans who have read the novel and not an actual substitute for it

When Shirou says it, he's effectively saying when a person is killed, they die in the sense they don't come back killing them erases them from existence permanently. That might not sound too profound but considering he's saying that in a world where Death is typically cheap it actually has a bit more weight to it.

I think it is a bit different. He is refering to himself if I am not mistakend. He has survived multible deadly injuries because of the sheath of Avalon. When he tries to give it back to Saber she does not want to exept it but he sais this line to convince her. But even in context the line is still very stupid because there are so many ways this could have been worded better.

Instead of how it reacted with Kiritsugu, and Saber when used. With Shirou, it just rapidly stitches his wounds together with swords, making the part that was injured more durable. Which also explains how he didn’t get his ribs turned to powder from lancer football kicking him around before saber could jumpstart Avalon’s rapid sword stitching. But besides making him both regenerate, and has his ‘steel is my body’ line VERY literal. Unlike everyone else, it can also kill him!

I love how this video pretty much breaks down the plot in such simple funny terms 😂 and yeah the anime's main issue is that they replicate scenes from the novel but lack some of the context. For example when Archer faced Caster he(Shirou) basically tells Archer to get lost because "he'll handle it hinself" (lol) but in the VN he immediately has another inner monologue admitting he's a hindrance to Archer and that he wouldve escaped the temple already if it wasnt for him being so useless at the time

It's very transformative to the overall experience of the nasuverse. I'd also eventually recommend tsukihime and mahou tsukai no yoru, and Kara no kyoukai as they are also key to fleshing out the nasuverse world as well

I started with Fate Zero and I’m glad I did as it completely hooked me to this universe and has the simplest to introduce it to you easily. I’ve been reading the visual novel and it’s great but goddamn it’s looooong. Been reading it in small bits here and there after getting it almost a year ago and I still haven’t even finished the Fate route. I wish I could just skip to HF as it’s the one I’m most interested in as I can tell from the overall short runtime of the films that a lot was probably cut.

From what ive heard from those who have read the VN Shirous thought process is dominated by Survivors Guilt which isnt very well established in the anime (obviously as a lot of its in his head) he is a much more interesting and less annoying character if you watch him with this context

He killed Bazett, the Original master of Cu right as he was summoned and turned him into his Dog before neutering him by running away whenever his Really easy to use again NP that always strikes the heart doesn’t kill. Original Fate Stay Night is for those new to the series. It does a good job of explaining everything and has the original story arc that every other movie references. Also it’s the only one that has Saber as the love interest to Shiro, and that’s why it’s my favorite. (Fate Zero is also a good starting point).

The armor is not much of protection. The VN is explaining everything better. Basically, Gil REFUSED to go all out against Shiro, because he was an ant on his eye. Until he realized that Shiro was about to beat his ass, but it was too late and Shiro dis-armed him. No, i don't regret that joke

So you’ve made the mistake of assuming a bunch of stuff. Archer Gil’s precognition is basically never is use. He sees the HGW as a game so he doesn’t use it. Also it’s not the future he sees but all possible futures so he just dismissed the one he dies because of his ego. Veema his space ship is fucking exploded. The golden armor and literally 99% of what he does never used in UBW because he thinks Shirou isn’t worth is. It’s more than just a physical battle it’s an ideological one as well. If Gilgamesh uses any of his true power he’s acknowledging that Shirou, a fake, is able to match the original. That’s something that is unthinkable to him, so much so that it costs him the fight

Shirou is a shit mage. Especially at the beginning at FSN, where he wasn't even doing it correctly. Idiot thought he has to turn his nerves into magic circuits (which is very painful and dangerous and not worth it) to do stuff magicy when he doesn't. i think each route he eventually figures it out and becomes alot less shit at everything oh, and uh, Magic Circuits are a thing magi need to do mana that would take too long to explain. there is probably a comparison i could make but no. just know that Shirou has 20-something on them and his are shit for a few reasons including how long it took him to turn them on
