Hey, D.J. I just got my Rock Paper Pencil. Does Astropad know you're doing The Lord's work? It's solidly the best matte I have ever drawn on. Thanks for the tip!

Your review was 100% accurate. I haven’t taken it off my iPad off since Christmas. The Astropad cover and tip are totally worth it. It has helped me with my lines and shading.

I also used many Matte Covers including Paperlike. I hadn't tried the PenTips one but bought the RPS cover and it's amazing. I have another iPad I use mostly for reading, but bought another RPS cover for it and got another Apple Pencil to use it for drawing on the go as my main iPad is in a Sketchboard Pro Stand in kind of permanent situation.

Damn, I ordered the 12.9" PenTips cover based on your review only 5 days ago. It has been shipped. Now, I just discovered this review (KZbin served it in my feed)... Guess I'll use the PenTips cover for a while and if I like it, I'll order an astropod cover... Thanks for your honest reviews! 👏

I can’t draw a lick but wanted to improve the note taking on my iPad mini. I first tried Paperlike but while it works well I did not get the application quite right and there was a bubble or two showing underneath. The Rock, paper, pencil product is much, much easier to apply and it is reusable. The metal pen tip seems like a must to pair with the protector. My experience has been a good one. I must say that for longer note taking, the various e-ink devices on the market are preferable; however, RPP is a very good product for use on the iPad. No doubt, Apple may have some ideas of how to improve the pencil experience on the iPad going forward but until then, RPP is a go in my opinion.

Thanks for the review. I recently upgraded to the 11 inch pro and haven't gotten a screen protector. I always mess something up like dust or hair getting under the protector. This seems like my answer. Also been needing a new tip so this is worth it to try. My birthday is in 12 days so I'm gonna ask my fiancé for it lmao

Thanks for your review, I agree with everything you said, but I think my biggest surprise feature was the clarity of the screen protector. So, for a multipurpose iPad, drawing and photo review, should you use a “permanent” regular tempered glass screen protector first, then just snap the astopad on when it’s time to draw? Would a double layer affect the pencil feel or line control? Or does the Astro pad have to go directly on the bare screen?
@DJCoffman
@DJCoffman Жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t double layer. I would guess it would affect the Apple Pencil

How long did you use it for? I saw another review recently about this product and he said it only lasted him about a month. It was still usable after a month but it just had a lot of scratches and he draws for like 8 hours a day. So I'm sure it would last longer if you drew way less than that

I draw for about 10-12 hours a day on mine. I did finally have to replace it after I got some scratches. One thing to note is there is a 1 year warranty as well. The version 2 they just put out I didn’t have a great experience but they replaced the defect right away.

Do you have a glass screen protector under the magnetic one? If theres dust between the magnetic protector and the ipad screen can the pressure of the pen “squish” the dust or sand particles and scratch the ipad screen? Thanks for your video im really inclined to buy this paper screen protector.

My concern is I take my Ipad everywhere with me for client meetings, wild sketching etc so I have a beefy Otterbox defender case on it which I LOVE. Will this fit under the frame of that does anyone know? I'm a serial Bellemond user but can't find my second one and I'm having a paddy with losing my expensive Apple nibs so refusing to buy more again. This would certainly hit 2 birds with one stone.

I have been using metal tips and a matte screen protector for a couple years now and I found that adjusting the pressure curve in your software with help a lot. I have my settings set so that I only have to apply a very small amount of pressure to draw. It is better on my wrist too. I have never had a problem with scratches since then.

@@DJCoffman Too much of a gap between the protector and the screen. The texture is bad. It's gets dust and hair between the protector and the screen. It's expensive! You have to press harder than normal for strokes to register. I have not found one that I like better than the regular iPad glass.

You can do this in Art Studio Pro and CSP as well. I have it up real high so I only have to press very lightly with my pencil to draw. If you haven’t tried this I would highly recommend it.
