Thank you for the detailed review. Like someone mentioned earlier, the hotel management seem to have gone above and beyond to acknowledge your concerns and even made promise to make improvements based on your feedback. I feel it’s a world class response. I don’t see any sarcasm in that response at all. I have been to several upscale hotels/resorts in Cancun, including Royalton, and most of the complaints you mentioned is not unique to Royalton. For example, Hilton and Hyatt Rivera are close to Royalton and do not have buses picking anyone from the airport either. I was expecting some fun experiences you had that could add to my family’s annual Cancun vacation, but all I got was nothing but complaints😳

You can watch the vlogs and in there you will see the fun. You are missing the whole point of a review. My videos are not to make people feel good. It’s to provide feedback based on our stay. I also mentioned in the video that my experience is unique to my travel journey and it can vary per each person. Nothing there states for you not to book or visit this resort. I have high standards and when paying hard earned money, I expect it to be such. We have traveled to more than 50 countries and have stayed in many hotels. We know when a service is great and when there is room for improvement. This hotel was great, but we wanted to show the areas of improvement as well. There are other comments on this video stating that they faced similar problems. So, this is not unique situation.

Thanks for the video and review. I am due to go here in august for 2 weeks so i have been reading reviews and watching vlogs to get an idea of how the hotel is. I have seen a lot of mixed reviews to be honest and it was causing me to consider changing our holiday to go back to holiday village in turkey which we love and is a easy 10/10. I shall be back after our family holiday and update. Happy hol's peeps enjoy.....

This is the kind of review I like. I don’t think you were complaining, some people just have different standards when spending thousands of dollars on a trip. I stayed at the Royalton St Lucia, & it was great. Im planning to stay at this one in July, but now im considering the Royalton Splash Riviera.

Thank you for your feedback. I agree. If you are spending that much money, you expect a certain level of service. Splash is newer and from what I have read, they have much better service. Maybe because it’s new. Hope you enjoy your trip whether you choose Splash or Not.

Glad you gave info on the cabanas not having a reservation process. As that’s something I look for when on holiday, a cabana or day bed. To me it’s just not a proper beach or 5* holiday experience if I don’t get this in. Just a very personal preference!

Great review. How long do u usually have to wait to get a table without diamond club? Would you recommend this resort to someone without diamond club?

Definitely recommend it. It’s just that you may want to eat earlier or later. So the busiest times were between 6/6:30-8:00PM. Eating around 5:30-6/6:30 or after 8:00PM will allow you to have a table and avoid huge crowds. Also, since they have opened Splash next door, it might not be as crowded since most families are now choosing Royalton Splash for their cool Water Park and Lazy Pool.

Were the restaurants air conditioned when you were there? We went a year ago and wouldn't return simply because of that. Specifically the buffet and the steak house were insufferably hot. I agree about the mosquitos and some of the disrepair in the rooms. We enjoyed our stay much like you due to the incredible staff in much of the hotel but I don't think I would return given all the options out there.

Sarcastic in the way that it came across to me based on my review on TripAdvisor. As stated in the video, it’s what it came across to me. Or maybe I was overacting. Either way, I paid a lot of money for this vacation and I wouldn’t expect any less on the service. Otherwise I could’ve stayed elsewhere for a cheaper cost.

If you were going to stay at an AI in cancun/ playa del Carmen for a month which resort would you choose? For family of 4 at least 1 or 2 bedroom

It really depends on the budget and what you are looking to do and if children are involved in this trip. My top family resorts in that area will be: 1)Nickelodeon Resort, 2)The Grand at Moon Palace, 3)Planet Hollywood For Adults only or older kids: 1)Royalton CHIC, 2)Hyatt Ziva Riviera, 3)Leblanc Spa and Resort

@ we have yet to stay there. I like to recommend places where I have stayed at so that way you are getting my honest opinion. But for a trip with kids: The three mentioned above and then Royalton Riviera Cancun, The Moon Palace, Hilton. Those are definitely going to be great stays.

You paid over 25k? In pesos or dollars? I couldn't imagine you paid 25k in dollars. I'm currently looking at pricing for 5 nights junior swim up for 3k dollars. How did you pay so much more?

Why do you take the response as sarcastic? The person even went above and said they would contact their chefs about it. However i do think that your concerns were rightful, i would be in awe if my room had mosquitos day 1 that was crazy, perhaps thats why she was trying to change your room 'sus'? either way thats insane. Can you tell me what youre comparing this stay to? i see you travel a lot so im curious what your standard is :) great review and good shots of the resort. Was extremely useful for my visit late in may. Hope to see some improvements on the stuff you commented on. Also what do you mean 25k? points? USD? CAUSE THATS WILD. I just booked for 2.2k for 7 nights.

Thank you for the comment. As stated on the video, it could be the way I perceived their response on the food part. You have to read my review in order to understand my comment. Our comparison to this hotel shouldn’t matter much as the hotel should still strive for the star that they claim to be. We have stayed at The Grand at Moon Palace, Hyatt Ziva, and other Marriott hotels in Cancun that had much better service and meal. This resort is good one, but it just doesn’t meet our requirements or standard based on many factors. As for the cost, you are correct on the confusion. I misspoke. We payed just under $2900 for the four days of our stay there. Anyways, the point of the video is to provide an honest review based on our experience during our visit. Each person’s experience is unique and can differ from others.

question about the beach. It did not look nice and turquiose blue. Is it? or more brown?

This part of Cancun will not have the turquoise water because of the mangrove swamp in the water, which causes a lot of seaweed. If you want a turquoise water beach, the hotel zone (zone hoteleria) will your best option or the northern part of the Cancun peninsula.

This is an incredibly thorough review. Thank you! I was planning to stay here with my soon to be one year old in the winter now am giving it second thoughts. Any recommendations for what is a 5 star resort in Maya Riveria or Cancun? And what may be a better place to stay?

Thank you for a wonderful feedback. As the video stated, each individual stay may differ. So, please don’t let our video spoil your stay. But, there are also other five star or other resorts that are great. Here are my recommendations: The Grand at Moon Palace, The Royalton Splash, The Grand Palladium, The Nickelodeon Resort just to name a few in the area that will be great for family trip and kids will enjoy.

​@@ThePanzoAdventures I agree, if you have kids the Grand Moon Palace or Iberostar Paraiso Maya is probably your best choice. Our only complaint about the Moon Palace is the beach. The beach itself it very nice but the water is not the typical crystal blue like the hotel zone. It's very similar to the Royalton, brown water and tons of sargassum seaweed. The grounds at the Moon Palace and Iberostar are massive, the Iberostar is beautiful. The food at the Grand was great and Iberostar was a close second. Both have water parks for kids and adults but the Grand was an awesome kids area and two arcades..all of which is included.
