This is one of those shows that was so deep, dark and mature that eventhough it was made for kids. It could be and was watched by parents. I haven't seen the show in years but there were so many episodes that to this day they still stand out.

The creators of BTAS were basically making it for themselves, not for kids. If it wasn't for the censors, it would have been even darker than it was.

You have to be careful with home video releases. The framerate seems to get messed up on a lot of shows from that period when they're transferred to digital media. X-men: TAS was borderline unwatchable on DVD because they messed the framerate up so bad it was super choppy. It seems like the people behind the BTAS release really care about it though, so they'll probably be fine.

You rarely see good explosions in kids' shows nowadays. The same with the guns; you rarely hear the actual rattle of a full automatic. It's often just replaced by the pew-pew of a laser. You never see good gassing anymore, either.
