One of the funniest Honest Trailer Commentaries I've seen so far! Mark my words, Ramky Balbambo is gonna be the next big thing in Hollywood. Also, thanks for doing an Honest Trailer for Rocky 4. It wasn't a masterpiece, but it was cheesy fun filled with training montages and a jump-the-shark moment with Paulie's robot. Dolph Lungdren is easily the best part in the movie.

20:35 Not sure whether you are reading the comments but I hope you do and may find the interesting. Judging from what you have said I think you have some misconceptions about the Mujahideen in Afghanistan. First of all, not all Mujahideen were radical Islamists. Mujahideen was a broad term for the groups opposing the Soviet Union, most of them being local Afghan Mujahideen, in contrast to foreign Arab Mujahideen such as Bin Laden. Some Mujahideen were also the people who opposed the Taliban and Al-Qaeda later in the 90s, such as the famous leader of the Northern Alliance Ahmed Shah Massoud. They were not also just fighting for a rather abstract reason like religious freedom- they were fighting also because the Soviet Union literally killed hundreds of thousands of people there (seriously, check up the casualty numbers with the ongoing Afghanistan war and compare it with what was going on back then). Osama Bin Laden did not come to Afghanistan because of the US, but because of his own motivation, as support for the Mujahideen was seen as a pan-islamic cause throughout the world. Bin Laden himself didn't really have an important role in the conflict, as I think most historians would agree (he only fought few battles and not very successfully so, being more instrumental in raising donations throughout the Islamic world), and I think it's also doubtful that any US support for people who later joined al-Quaida was essential in the forming of the group. One should also not in general overrate the importance of the Arab Mujahideen, as most opposition to the Soviet Union came from the indigenous population and they were also numerically way more important of a faction. I just wanted to write this because it seems to me that a lot of people have a bit of ahistorical understanding of the 80s Afghanistan conflict, failing to comprehend it on its own terms. More often, people just look at it through the lense of another event (9/11), but I think this doesn't do justice to the politics of the 80s and afterwards.

Anyone find it somewhat bizarre that Rocky IV - the silliest installment of the franchise - is now one of the most important, considering how these Creed movies are so reliant on the events of that movie?
@parkay6 жыл бұрын
I was about to disagree with you and say that V was the silliest, but honestly it was just the crappiest. Everything up to the final street fight between Rocky and Tommy Gun was actually a poorly executed, but somewhat believable storyline of a down on his luck Rocky. IV was just silly for all the reasons stated in the Honest Trailer (not that I still don’t have fond memories of IV).
@anthony76976 жыл бұрын
To answer the question - They cut a scene where Paulie rewires the robot and gets that by either luck, or being smarter than we think. Also the whole Rocky training old school, vs Drago with tech, was kind of a shot at how a lot of training was going to all this fancy high tech stuff and sometimes just away from bare bones basics that were sometimes more effective. Sort of like how you look at back in the day Babe Ruth set all those records, some of which still stand to this day, basically on a beer and hot dog diet while partying, while others have restricted diets, party less, and do all this intense training and health stuff, with the occasional steroids, to break these records, and some still aren't.

Rocky might be my favorite franchise. I've seen I-IV about 1000 times...and to this day I've never watched for than the first 15 minutes of Rocky V before quitting. Just not even worth acknowledging, and not worth breaking the streak. Rocky Balboa is solid too and has probably one of my favorite monologues ever. This will upset the purists but Creed might be the best of all of them. It just seems to be the most emotionally-charged, best acted and directed version of the story we all love. However, all of them can claim to be really impactful and emotionally poignant in certain aspects, there's no taking it for granted.
