My favorite DC movies: Batman begins, Dark Knight, and Shazam. My favorite Marvel movies: Guardians of the Galaxy, all the Avengers movie, Ant-man, Both of the Captain America movies, Thor: Ragnarok, and Iron man. You can see by the numbers that i enjoy Marvel more.

I'm an MCU fangirl, I'm not ashamed to admit that. That's why I enjoyed the MCU Honest Trailer a lot more, simply because I'm way more familiar with this universe, I am emotionally attached to it, I get the references etc. And this one was hilarious ("everyone knows the real villain of the MCU... is... DAAADS"). I think the criticism was fair, most of the MCU villains *are* pretty generic and forgettable, especially in phases 1 & 2 (except for Loki, of course). The plots and subplots are recycled over and over again, that is also true. But it doesn't bother me much because I've grown to love the characters. I care for them, I understand their motivations, I can relate to them. I think that's the key to MCU's success. Well written, well cast, likeable, relatable characters. And the fact that they took the time to establish them, to build them up, to build up their universe. I haven't seen all the DCEU movies (yet) but I can't say that about their characters so far. (That being said, I'm not a DCEU hater by any means and it's still possible it will grow on me.) MCU isn't perfect but neither are the Honest Trailers and I still love them both :)

DC (400th HT) was the funnier one for me, since they didn't have to dive as deep to get so funny! It was all there for the picking, where as with Marvel, the things they pointed out were things you might notice after thinking about it... ? I also enjoyed the little rant he went on towards the beginning of the DC HT. Maybe for the 500th, they can do an Air Bud one! Who can forget Air Bud: Golen Receiver! Or the last one, Super Buds... which was a rip off of both Avengers and Justice League!! Funny stuff! Thanks for doing these!

As a person who has read both marvel and D.C. comics for a lot of years, i still think in a way its nice to atleast see alot of the characters in movies. With that said, I tend to like the marvel movies more than the D.C. movies. Yes they both have some good movies and some bad ones, but I think marvel hits more with everyone than D.C. For people to say D.C. is more dark and edgy havent read alot of comics than, cause not every D.C. comic is dark and edgy, they just choose to do the movies that way it seems.

I'm with ya! I normally prefer DC comics to Marvel, but Marvel is killing the game with their movies. Even their lesser known characters can shine. DC isn't at that level yet. Although I wish they would branch out more and not just focus on Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.

Dude your t-shirt game is always so on point... Anyways, are you doing anything on Superman & Lois? If so, I haven't noticed it (I'm subscribed and everything! And now that places are opening where I'm at, I have a job so I can hopefully afford to join up soon!). If you're not watching it, you really should. It's by far the best DC show (and I like the OG Arrowverse...I think they should have just cast Grant Gustin for the DCEU Flash for example and Jon Cryer in Supergirl has been a lot of fun). It's shot like a PT Anderson flick, it's not super-hammy, the actor they got for Clark is EXCELLENT (Lois is okay, but growing on me) and it's not bogged down by the continuity of the other series, even though both Lois and Clark already appeared in Supergirl and the Crisis crossover (whatever, it's multiverse stuff, who cares). I hope you do a reaction show for it! Just watched the latest episode and figured 'whose thoughts do I want to hear about this' and, naturally, thought of you ;)

Definitely watch. I was skeptical -- Superman is my absolute favourite character so having a new-ish guy run a series was tough for me to imagine but with every single episode I see why he's the PERFECT choice. The actress for Lois is not my favourite (there's something about her in particular that keeps throwing me off, I wonder if you'll notice...) but she's really well-written, and the actress IS good in the role, so I'm coming around to her. It's been my main gripe with how Marvel treats their villains. The shows seem to be doing a better job so far. Hoping the movies follow suit. This may also be the one area where DC films can be better than Marvel. Really amp up their villains.

And if you are going to mention Thanos, by example, he was also killed in the comics and later resurrected by Mistress Death. Btw, nobody cares whether or not DC figures out how to handle or not a bunch of stupid characters, because they are already ruined by Snyder and company. There's no way they can fix that, since they have never had a consistent universe at all.

Also they at WB really need to figure out which directors to let go wild and which to reign in. But stick to the given material! I've come to the point in my life where I've grown tired of being cautiously optimistic about DC movies instead of reasonably sure about it like the Marvel ones. And I hate to compare the two...I think the problem is we can only write well what we know. We no nothing about being gods (looking at you DC, there's only one God and I'm sure He doesn't dress like that.) but we know a lot about being human.

By streamlined do you mean coordinated? In some ways the DCEU was too streamlined. Rather than building a background that led up to the big combination events they rushed it, omitting a proper build-up. In others they crammed too many stories into one movie, trivializing epic events. The Death Of Superman story was streamlined into a subplot.

@@jeffthompson9622 Late, but the reason is DC had no decision-makers. DC before 2016 had no actual leadership, it was kinda just people writing scripts and then finding out 6 weeks before shooting that someone else was using the same character. That's not even a joke, Suicide Squad was using Steppenwolf as the villain until six weeks before shooting started when Snyder turned in his Justice League script and that had Steppenwolf in it. Because WB was prioritizing the JL movies over SS movies, they forced David Ayer to rewrite SS in six weeks to remove Steppenwolf. And the leadership DC gained in 2016 was poor as well. Geoff Johns, despite his comic talent, wasn't fit to run a film franchise and never found a balance between coordination and freedom, just sort of being a tyrant. Then he got replaced with Walter Hamada as DC's leader, and Hamada's strategy was basically "No universe, just let everyone do their own standalone things".

Best MCU movie: Probably Infinity War or Civil War Worst MCU: EASILY Iron Man 3. Villain feels subpar. His arc is kind of rushed. Iron Patriot goes no where. Like there are movies that get more hate like Captain Marvel and Thor but those go somewhere like introducing Skrull and Kree or Loki's story along with some funny jokes. Best DCEU: Aquaman no question. Its a spectacle film and it works. Worst DCEU: BVS. Its a complete disappointment in every possible way considering the concept should be considered great even with the smallest part of actual competency. Its the only DCEU movie or movie in general in my book to get a 0/10 with the exception of Hail Cesear.

Honest Trailers mentions how Marvel, which throughout the 1990s was home of the gloomy emo brooding anti-hero, has made the MCU bright and energetic. Whereas DC, whose comics were once full of larger-than-life godlike characters clad in brightly coloured spandex, created a DCEU movieverse where everything looks dreary and even Superman is basically dressed in such desaturated and darkened colours that he's basically dressed in black.

The problem of the DCEU doesn’t come from some bad movies but WB themselves. WB just disrespected fans and gave up the original visions so quickly which torn the whole franchise apart. I really don’t mind some failures like Suicide Squad if they keep trying with future movies. Despite some criticism, BvS is my favorite.

The problem is WB doesn't correct mistakes, they go to the opposite extreme and make more mistakes. After BvS' critical reception, a smart studio would've put JL's filming on hold, and sat down and tried to actually draw up plans and course correct. But because that would be more expensive, instead they rushed a last minute rewrite, constantly forced in more stuff during production, and then reshot half the movie anyways when they didn't like it.

The DCEU is really bad, and to make it worst it was given to an hack called Zack Snyder that, for some weird reason, everyone went from hating to loving him just because he released a director's cut that sucks (but because social media said it was great and people are just sheep they all said...yeah, it's amazing). The MCU, while much better, it pales in comparison to the comics (i don't mean that last 10 years, i mean when the comics were actually good). The biggest problem with the MCU is also it's biggest strength, the connected universe. By having all movies tie together, it makes an interesting saga; but my making all movies tie together that loses a lot of stories and dramatic stuff they could have done and flesh out the characters....but Marvel is much more interested in the connected universe than the actual characters. Bottom line, the MCU could have been a lot better.
