Now I know why space ships and space guns and space gadgets always look so weird. It's because it makes them memorable. I couldn't tell you anything about the design of the ships, gadgets or guns in this movie five minutes after finishing it. The only memorable things were the lightsabers (obviously Star Wars) and the stuff they literally ripped off from Warhammer 40k (including the Commissar outfits and the shot of her waving the flag).

I did the math after I watched this, and I can't remember specifics, but essentially the Empire wanted the volume of a standard Olympic swimming pool full of grains. The same empire that can rip holes in space time, turn entire planets into cities, and resurrect dead people needs grains. And yeah, what about that spaceport where they couldn't *POSSIBLY* have grains?

He said Zack Snyder was one of his favorite directors he's ever worked for, that he ran a great set where everyone was happy, treated everyone with remarkable kindness and fostered a really nice work environment. We really need to stop regurgitating the myth that Snyder's some underrated genius held back by Hollywood when he's really a mentally stunted edgelord who doesn't know one thing about filmmaking except "Oh, look how cool this is!"
@catkaboodle
@catkaboodle 3 ай бұрын
The vast majority of American directors are mentally stunted edgelords who think in terms of what looks cool. It's a primarily visual medium, so I can understand them resenting the intrusion of books (via adaptations) and literary writing, but it ultimately means their stories are naturally shallow. Rebel Moon and the Star Wars prequels are the result of visual thinkers trying to emulate word-based mythology without the help of actual writers and editors.
