The reason why Sang-woo getting to SNU is a big deal bc it is S. Korea's first national university and not just anyone can get in especially with mediocre grades. Graduates of this school usually work in government or really respectable companies. Their business program is also considered very prestigious so that's why people in the show are in awe of Sang-woo's educational background.

You have to realize that they don't really have legit American actors in Korea; there's just no market for it. Also, the actors here in America are too spoiled for Asian working conditions. I mean, the Americans are basically about to strike because they're not getting 12 hour turnarounds between working days (among other points). In Asia, PSH! I actually really liked the cliche acting and wouldn’t be surprised if it was done deliberately. How many times has Hollywood portrayed Asians in a stereotypical way? Getting to see how other countries view Americans was insightful and added another layer to the social commentary in the show.
