Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption is worth a read. It's one of Stephen King's best short stories. And Morgan Freeman is so good and that baritone voice is so soothing, you almost forget that Red killed his wife on purpose for the insurance money.

If you ever get a chance to, visit the Mansfield Reformatory in Ohio to see the prison. They do all kinds of weird events there now but you can ( or at least could ) do a self guided tour to see where they filmed certain scenes.

@@smackerlacker8708 no this is true. He threw the gun away because he forgave his wife and knew he wasn’t a good husband. He even says later something like, I wasn’t a good husband but I didn’t kill my wife and I didn’t kill her lover. He was sad he couldn’t make her happy. He is just very withdrawn and introverted.
