Life is like a box of chocolates - In the beginning it's full of possibility, but as time goes on and it gets emptier and emptier, you begin to realize that soon you'll be forced to eat that nasty one that tastes like chocolate covered toothpaste and then you'll have nothing left but your fast fading memories as your life becomes an ever deepening inky abyss of sorrow and despair.

That's why in a box of chocolates first I eat the bad ones and then the good ones: to keep the best for the end and the delicious taste remain :) Who knows if this strategy fits in life too though...
@oggyreidmore

Elicynderspyro It wouldn't work. Bitter childhoods color the way you perceive life from then on. If you experienced all of your life's bitterness in the beginning, you'd never really be able to enjoy the rest because you'd be conditioned to expect your happiness to end and would whittle away your time waiting for the sword to fall.

My older brother has autism and this is one of his personal favorite movies because he relates to Forrest Gump in so many ways. He's been called stupid more times than he can count, he takes sarcasm seriously, is very faithful to anyone and everyone, has a big heart, and is an extreme romantic. I don't know if it one of the greatest films of all time technically speaking, but sure as hell it's a very, very touching one. Those who didn't cry were about to, and that's all we need for a movie to be good. When a movie does that, there are no acting, filming or producing mistakes that make a film bad.

The genius in this movie is that he does all these amazing things like starting a company, winning a medal of honor or being a pro athlete. But he's never happy with any of it, because he always wanted Jenny from the start, and he never really got to have her in his life. It's so much more tragic when you consider that.

...and the fact that he's so ignorant to the mountains of things that he's accomplished in life. There's so many levels of sadness and happiness in this movie, ie; Forrest has a son who is intelligent, but he will never actually understand that one day his son will grow up and realize his father's mental capacity.
@ginniem9779
@ginniem9779 5 жыл бұрын
I agree. And despite the recognition and wealth he gained, he could never be truly happy because he always had a huge insecurity for being "stupid." When Jenny tells him the child is his, the first question he asks is whether the child is smart. Self-esteem is necessary for happiness, but Forrest Gump never had self-esteem because people saw him as "stupid."

In Forrest Gump, Sally Field is the actress who plays Forrest's mom. She wore prosthetic make-up in the film to make her look like an old lady back then. But now it's 20 years later and she actually does look like an old lady so the narrator said "Sally Field now" when they showed her :)

People say Jenny was a horrible person, but you got to take into consideration what happened to her throughout her life. She and her sister were molested by their father at a very young age therefore psychologically in her mind she was broken. She wanted to have the love she never received from her father unfortunately the men in her with the exception of Forrest only wanted her for sex. So don't judge her character so harshly.
