Tried the Hellcat, tried the 365, tried the 43x (which was my least favorite because the lower is so uncomfortable and it kicked like a mule), and tried the shield. Bought the shield plus and have not found anything better for the category. It fits my hand, does not kick much at all, is accurate, not issues after 200 rounds, and is a simple gun to take apart. My wife will probably be getting the same thing to carry for herself. Highly recommended. I was shooting at 30ft on the first time using it and was surprised at how accurate it was. I am pretty new to gun ownership, so it amazing me how easily it hit the target.

I picked up the Shield Plus on Monday evening, and it's quickly moved itself to the top of my list as well. I went in to the store just to hold it, and that was all it took for me to bring it home. The only thing the base model is lacking, IMO, is those night sights that come standard on the base model 365s and Hellcats, especially given that all are around roughly the same price, at least in my area.

As a Sig loyalist I’ve turned up my nose at most other manufacturers for like 3 decades. The XDs caught my attention for a bit. I bought a Walter P99 just because... then I bought an M&P. The M&P really got my attention. For the first time in my life I was torn. As much as I love my Sigs, I own many, the lower bore axis of the M&P and just over all feel in my hand really was upending my loyalty. Fast forward to now and I’m really wanting to pick up an M&P 2.0 5” for an all out combat pistol and a M&P 2.0 compact of some type. I’m almost lost in all the variations. I’ll have to put some work into learning more.

I have both and love both. The 07 is marginally more concealable. The 01 is my sweetheart. The 01 is cajunized and the 07 was upgraded with MCARBO springs. I wouldn't sell either. The 01 is the non-Omega version, BTW. The entire question comes down to how you want to use the gun and what expectations you have for customization. Plenty of holster and accessory options for either..

@DougMcHone
@DougMcHone 3 жыл бұрын
@@sethdesselle6420 In that case, I'd start with the 07. The 07 is Omega and part of that means that the trigger isn't quite so curved. You can get blisters from a standard CZ trigger because of how curved it is. Also, the MCARBO kit is like $20 and comes with a super helpful video to walk you through it. The Non-Omega 01 has a sear cage that can be upgraded by a non-gunsmith, but not without lots of swearing. The 07 also has a lower opening price point AND the magazines for it are compatible with the P-10 series. If I could only have one, it would be the P-01. In your case though, I would suggest the 07 to you. Good luck!

I have the top two pistols on this list- 1. M&P Shield Plus. and 2. Sig P365 ....objectively the shield is probably a slightly better gun because of its trigger and because it’s larger size makes it more comfortable to shoot than the p365, but honestly I shoot the p365 better. The shields trigger is basicslly TOO good, and I can predict when it is going to go off and I tend to flinch more and pull my shots to the left (I’m not the best shooter and don’t get to practice a ton). But again that’s just me, it’s not the guns fault. The p365 is just a better gun for me all around because I can’t predict when it’s going to go off as easily so I flinch less and shoot straighter. It’s less comfortable to shoot though after 50-100 rounds at the range, but that’s not it’s purpose. It’s purpose is to be small, light, concealable, and effective as a self defense Gun which it is. The P365 is a little more concealable so I tend to carry it more often when i need a minimalist setup with a tight fitting outfit. I consider the shield a better gun all around, but when it comes to concealed carry, the p365's smaller size is just more convenient and allows me to carry in more positions comfortably. the p365 is also posslbe to pocket carry unlike the shield. I suppose it’s possible to pocket carry the shield but it’s kind of pushing the boundaries of pocket carry and you might need to be wearing bigger pockets. I use my ruger LCP 2 for pocket carry as well, fantastic gun. the LCP 2 Ive carried more than both of these due to its insanely small size and light weight, but its not as good of a gun as these to shoot at a range, and I would rank it slightly lower in reliability and durability. It gets the job done though. Lately I’ve made the switch and my p365 is all I carry. I take it with me everywhere, and I keep it in my car. The others I keep in my house. My LCP II i take to walk my dog sometimes. My shield collects dust, bc these days I only pocket carry (I hate iwb carry bc uncomfortable), I’ve considered selling it, but didnt - another thing is I got the performance version of the shield plus and I regret not getting the standard version because the white dot sights are way better than the performance sights imo

@ro00o33
@ro00o33 2 жыл бұрын
@@cashmoney9256 vedder light tuck or tolster holster. I hate carrying iwb personally bc I just think it’s uncomfortable and I prefer pocket carry but that’s what I would use if I did carry iwb. The light tuck with the claw attachment will conceal best but it takes up my room in your pants and is a little more uncomfortable. The tolster holster is probably more comfortable and smaller overall, but doesn’t have the claw, which means it’s not going to hold the gun snug against your body so the butt of the gun will probably print more and be visible in the outline of your shirt I prefer pocket carry holsters, my fave being vedder pocket locker, but the shield is a bit too big to for pocket carry. I mean it’s possible, but just kind of pointless compared to the much smaller p365 or ruger lcp ii. Btw my preference has changed since I made this post and the p365 is my favorite in all areas now, because I shoot it better than I shoot the p365. That’s just personal preference though, the shield is still a great gun. I just like the p365 better, I tend to pull the shield to the left when I pull the trigger. the shield probably has a better trigger but honestly I’m not the best shot and the p365 trigger kind of “fools” me into shooting straight with its less predictable trigger wall- less expectation and less flinch

@@philips2870 muzzle flip accuracy and comfort of shooting. On an anecdotal level when shooting something like the 365 the total circumference of the grip allows the gun to rotate side to side and makes it to where you almost have to walk the bullet into a tight group. The shield grip and design is much easier to hit point of aim from a quick draw. Now this is something that may totally be anecdotal but everyone who is shot mine has all came to the same conclusion. The 365 and the 365 XL are revolutionary and will always hold that innovative spot as the original. But when you take the shield design and put it on paper especially with the new trigger nothing comes close. It's really something you have to shoot to understand how unbelievably comfortable recoil reset and shoot ability this pistol holds for a package as small as it is. I have time behind the Glock 43x hellcat and both 365 models. I have not shot a Ruger Max 9 but I can honestly say The shield is will be the only thing in my waistband for the foreseeable future

I can confirm your opinions about that Shield Plus. I was in the market to purchase my very first gun and was shopping around in this category of compact double stacks. I shot around 9 different pistols and my top three ended up being the 43x, the canik tp9 elite sc, and that Shield plus. I found these three to be the most accurate and least recoil for me... especially the 43x and shield plus. But only with the shield did I manage 3 bullseye shots on my very first magazine. As a total amateur shooter, this gun totally impressed me. My only complaint would be the lack of a rail on the shield plus and also I found the shield's slide release button to be overly recessed for such a small and stiff button. So yeah, the shield plus is a phenomenal pistol, just be prepared to curse the slide catch.

Do this: you have to get your hands on the "NEW" - "SCCY" "DVG" (10+1 rounds) !! Well built, comes with 2 mags, inexpensive (about $230 no red dot) , life time , no questions asked, “ life time “ warranty, that follows the gun to what ever owner has it at the time, any time . Almost the exact same size as the Sig P365, & the Springfield Hellcat . The DVG (stands for "David vs. Goliath) going up against the rest of the BIG GUN industry {Sig, Springfield etc.}. Striker fired, about a 5 lb. pull, good reset, flat trigger, ALSO, newer, better grip (than their CPX-2 which no one liked because of the long DAO & reset) {thinner between back-strap & forward/front of grip.} Personally, I'd buy 2 of these instead of one of the others. NO I don't work for them.

A slight bump over $600 with taxes. Nearly $800 tricked out the same in PC model. You get a free snazzy cleaning kit with the PC but I can buy one for less than $200. Not all that keen on ported muzzle with flash and more to clean. Shoots plenty flat enough for a micro and stock trigger is sweet. Not gilding any lilies here.

Rundown of the ones I have experience with in no particular order. P365: too small for general purpose edc pistol P365xl: probably my favorite of the lot. Glock 48: total lack of grip texture makes it harder to control than it should be. Grip tape or stippling is a must. Hellcat: I really hate the irons, the fat front sight and the rounded u notch make it hard for me to tell if it's lined up properly and I get lots of horizontal stringing. grip extension pinches my finger. Shield Plus: the only one that I like as well as the P365xl. The only downsides are the poorly designed thumb safety and the fact that the slide lock really is just a slide lock. Easy to shoot high 80s offhand out to 25 yards, good size, good texture, easy to control recoil.

@AlexDenton0451
@AlexDenton0451 3 жыл бұрын
@What's Up? yep! Nowadays they’re a lot better, though trust me they still have issues. The KS7 is a simple enough gun though that it doesn’t really have many issues unless you’re trying to cause them, it’s literally just a bullpup pump action. And for their second shot at it, the gun is sick. IIRC it’s 6+1 3” shells, and it had a pretty easy to use pump. It’s small enough to be used in pretty much any environment while having an 18” barrel IIRC. I can’t comment on their other stuff but that one was nice.

Putting the cost issue aside, I think the P365XL beats all of these. Short barrel 9s are notorious for providing insufficient velocity to support reliable bullet expansion. The XL's 3.7 inch barrel provides enough extra velocity to overcome this. I loved my Shields, but I had to run +Ps to feel comfortable. They're more expensive, and harder on the gun. I carried a Glock 48 for a while, but it just is not as comfortable and concealable as the Sig. And I didn't want to spend the money to get a good trigger and buy better mags..

I’m so torn on the shield plus. I have the OG shield and it’s amazing. I’m sure this one is too but I feel like smith kinda missed the mark on this one a bit. The trigger for sure is an upgrade but they left those stupid front slide serrations, no optics mounting system on the base model, and plain jane white dot sights.

The Shield Plus is a game changer. My P365 trigger reset spring became unreliable and this unfortunate event coincided with the release of the Shield Plus. I have never looked back and totally agree with your assessment. Nice thorough review by the way.

I like the shield too, mainly cause of the price, made in US and reliability

While I own an XDS and LC9S, I've been pleasantly surprised with the two Shields I've shot. The Shield Plus looks very interesting, but I want to see how well they execute an optics solution. I suspect they should skip plates, and direct mount an RMS-C. Props to Ruger for checking so many boxes, but a shorter trigger stroke would be nice. I cannot begin to get my finger into the LC9S trigger guard without disengaging the trigger safety and partially compressing the trigger.

How do you like the XDS?

@@antoniotula262 downsides: trigger is a bit crunchy and grip is blocky, but mine is the original XDs and the current is supposedly better on both counts. Upsides: accurate, and definitely tough enough for +p ammo. Grip is thin, but fills the hand better front-to-back than a p365. I think it's still a good gun, but it's hard to ignore its capacity disadvantage to the newer double stack micro nines. Maybe if you definitely preferred its grip shape, it'd still be a good choice.

@@funkla65 Hey thanks for your response, I'm thinking of a few & will rent & shoot. Hearing from someone who already owns one can give me info a quick reviewer might miss.

60$ or so you can get the 365XL grip module in 3 different colors from sig if you want a bigger grip besides the 12-15 rd sig mags. Personally I run a 365xl slide on the standard 365 frame with a tlr6 on it, carries like a dream. I believe surefire is making a 365 light if you want aluminum instead of the SL’s polymer.
