And yes, I feel the same with Estonia. I didn't like it in the beginning, then it grew a bit on me but seeing this staging shifts it to the bottom for me again

The Netherlands aren't showing their best. This song is very personal the Joost and his team have been talking about something very big for the eurovision performance. They have also trolled the fans a lot and tesed a lot of stuff. I heard he was also not happy when he heard that they had to show clips for rehearsals as he himself has said he wants the performance to be a surprise. So I don't think we should judge it just yet..
@klaudijabogdanovski5 ай бұрын
If it's anything to do with augmented reality, then unfortunately, I don't think it's going to save this performance. It's already been done in other national finals, which entries didn't make the cut. I think people are expecting something mammoth because of all the hype, and if it doesn't come up with the goods, it will potentially flop.

You were constantly criticising the mv when it's a song competition not a music video competition and u were unnecessarily mean I think that's why a lot of people were against u. But at the end of theday everyone has their own opinions. That's the beauty of eurovision isn't it? A whole continent represented through music. M A R I N A PAME PUT YO HANDS UP
@edv.fernandez62415 ай бұрын
I feel exactly the same way you do about each song you reviewed. I completely agree with you. I could have done your video myself. I started watching Eurovision in 1971. It has been a while :-) I remember when all vocals were perfomed live on stage.- lead and backing. Full orchestras played the music live. It was great. Those were the days! Over the years, Eurovision/EBU has changed the rules of competition to favor staging and theatrics over singing and vocal performance. It is a shame. I do understand that Eurovision is a mixture of many elements and components but vocal performance should be the priority and prevail which is the principal on which Eurovision was founded.- a music festival relying on music, lyrics and vocals. You and I prefer to be impressed by the music, the lyrics and the vocal performance not over glitzy lights and outrageous costumes; not everything that glitters is gold :-) Like you, I would like ALL vocals to be sung live; both lead and backups. It is ridiculous the excessive amount of vocals on the backing tracks which many times take over and overpower the lead. Over and over we hear the lead vocalist singing the melody and the backup singers sing the high parts of the harmonies because the lead cannot reach the high notes. Way too much backing track pumping! Not my cup of tea but the televote will undoubtely select to advance to the Grand Final: 1. Netherlands: Joost Klein, Europapa 2. Finland : Windows95man, No Rules! 3. Estonia: 5miinust and Puuluup, (Nendest) 4. Ireland : Bambie Thug, Doomsday Blue - Very creative. We have seen rehersals for the artist to get used to the huge stage while the delegations try and adjust the staging and performance and "camera blocking" is done for the producers and directors of the shows. I am certain there will be changes until the last minute including wardrobe selection. I am also certain that there are elements of the staging that are being kept secret by the delegations and will be revealed during the live performances; i.e. Netherlands: Joost Klein, Europapa. It is going to be a battle of the girl's "bops" between: Semi-Final 1 - Girl's "Bops" 1. Cyprus : Silia Kapsis, Liar 2. Luxembourg : Tali, Fighter Silia does a good job but I find the staging lacking impact. Edge to Luxembourg as it comes back to Eurovision so there might be subjectivity in the televote and EBU. Semi-Final 2 - Girl's "Bops" 1. Malta: Sarah Bonnici, Loop 2. Austria: Kaleen, We Will Rave 3. Georgia: Nutsa Buzaladze, Firefighter I think the favorite is Kaleen. For me.- strong dance performance but weak vocals; sometimes, out of breath. I think that both Kaleen and Nutza will advance to the Grand Final. My personal NQs for both Semi-Finals, with the televote "effect" are: Semi-Final 1 Not Qualifying: 1. Iceland : Hera Björk, Scared of Heights 2. Moldova : Natalia Barbu, In the Middle 3. Azerbaijan : Fahree feat. Ilkin Dovlatov, Özünlə apar 4. Australia : Electric Fields, One Milkali (One Blood) 5. Portugal : Iolanda, Grito Semi-Final 2 Not Qualifying: 1. Malta: Sarah Bonnici, Loop 2. Albania: Besa, Titan 3. Denmark: Saba, Sand 4. Armenia: Ladaniva, Jako 5. Latvia: Dons, Hollow 6. San Marino: Megara, 11:11

A lot of backing vocals indeed. My country ( Lithuania ) with Silvester Belt uploads a lot of tiktoks from the woman that is the backing vocal, and she also uploaded a tiktok that she recorded during the semifinal performance, so she is somewhere behind the stage or aside of it? And she is barelly heard during the chorus. I even asked her why can't we hear her and she said " I just assist him, I dont need to overyell him " but I honestly dont hear any supporting female backing vocal at all during Luktelk performance.
@dave13615 ай бұрын
I agree on the backing vocals. It's within the rules as they are, but it feels like cheating. I feel like any pre-recorded backing vocals shouldn't be the main artist singing the main melody, because that should be live.
@nediira61385 ай бұрын
I'd love to see people singing live. I am surprised with Nemo's backing vocals - he is totally able to sing this song on his own. Maybe for the rehearsals they are using backing vocals so that artists don't wear off the voice before the actual show? I hope for more live vocals during the competition. Nemo is among my winners (along with Croatia and Norway) and I'd love to hear him sing - he totally can do it :)

also maybe regarding the added vocals, i think it's because they make the show more entertaining rather than feeling like an x factor audition. its hard to move around and sing so i personally would rather have a few extra vocals to boost the song than have 15 static entries where they just focus on their vocals. after all good show = more money so that's what they care most about

Well guess what dear Georgina. The backing vocals you hear on the Greek song is the backing vocalist of Marina Satti, Erasmia which is working with marina satti since 2016 and it is in the back of the stage singing live together with Marina, unlike most of the others having their own recorded voice as a backing vocal running to strenghten their main vocal. ^_^ The only recorded voice they are using is the "Ta Ta Ta" that comes as an echo from the word Meta which means after. Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Spain and many others are using recorded backing vocals to their main voice. In Spains case you can barely even hear the main singer because they set the backing much louder to mask her weak vocals. So you are right that such backing vocals shouldn't be allowed.

5:55 yeah live back vocals are magic but it is cheaper that way that is now and that allows poorer countries to put up better performances (imagine performances without backing vocals at all)
@aidam.62315 ай бұрын
It would definitely be much more challenging (and possibly fun) to have backing vocals sing live on the stage, but the ESC has the limit of only 6 or 7 people in total being on the stage. That would pose a problem for those having a whole choir as backing vocals ( e.g. in 1999. Croatia was stripped off the points and was placed 7th instead of 4th for they had a backing choir vocal recorded). So the ESC would first have to change the rules. As for these snippets, I think it would be far more interesting if the rehearsals were kept secret and we would only see the final product at the semis and finals.
@AmberJays5 ай бұрын
Put together a very capable baritone, tenor, alto and soprano (dramatic or coloratura, whichever required for the score), and a quartet can be just as effective and capable if they've been given specific harmonies. Although, putting very capable backing vocalists up against some entries would probably just enhance the fact that some of the entries are performers, but not singers, and that's something I'm sure some of them would rather avoid drawing attention to lol.
