HOW TO MAKE HONEY BOURBON WINGS
______________________________________________________________
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- 2lbs of chicken wings
- Bourbon
- Postal Barbecue "ORIGINAL" BBQ Rub
HONEY BOURBON SAUCE:
- 1 Cup Ketchup
- 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1/4 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 Tbs Molasses
- 1/4 Cup Honey
- 1tsp Paprika
- 1tsp Onion powder
- 1tsp Garlic Powder
- 1tsp Black Pepper
- 2-3 oz bourbon
STEP #1
To prepare your wings, first place your wings in a bag and add in 1 - 2 oz of bourbon and let marinade for 30-60 minutes. While the wings are marinating in that bourbon begin to make your honey bourbon sauce.
SETP #2
After 30-60 minutes remove your wings from the bag and apply a lite coating of your favourite chicken BBQ Rub. Once they have been seasoned place them onto the grill indirect and begin cooking between 375-400F.
STEP #3
After around 30 minutes of cooking open the grill and flip the wings. This will help provide even cooking and brownness to both sides. Close the lid and continue cooking for another 15 minutes.
STEP #4
After around 45 minutes total cooking time, sauce the underside of the wings then flip them over and sauce the top section. Once the wings have been sauced, close the lid and let cook for an additional 7-10 minutes to allow the sauce to set up. Once that's done remove fro the grill and enjoy the feast!

These wings are incredible! Just made these this past weekend and I have to say they were some of the best, if not THE best, wings I’ve ever had. The honey bourbon sauce combined with the OG rub is excellent! Do yourself a favor and make this recipe! You won’t regret it!

*PRO TIP!* Use a vac pack machine to FORCE marinades into meats. For this recipe I would use the 'Ball jar attachment' and a 1/2 gallon jar. _You'll be AMAZED at the difference!_

Great lookin wings Jabin. My favorite style of wings? My favorites are the flats and I've got an Asian sticky sauce that I toss my wings in after either grilling or shallow frying them.

Everytime I smoke chicken wings on kettle at 400 degrees I get rubbery skin. I cook them until 190 degrees as well. How do you get bite through?

I run both vents wide open. If the skin is dry 50 minutes to an hour total cook time. If the skin is wet from a marinade it can go as long as an hour and twenty minutes to an hour and a half. The meat won’t be dry and you’ll have crispy skin.

How do you deal with the rubbery skin when you cook them on the smoker?

Cook them no lower than 275F. You can also leave them in the fridge uncovered for a few hours prior to help dry out the skin a bit before it his the smoker.
