The beginning of this video is time spent with my dad emptying his pollen traps and talking a little about beekeeping equipment.
From that we transition into a little bit of commercial or side line beekeeping where we are stacking honey supers on eighty double deep palleted hive sets.
For desert we have a nice honey loaded hive removal in the swamps of La France Mississippi. It was a very long day which could have made several videos.
Since I can only put out one video per week I just threw it all in so it wouldn't get lost in storage.

Commercial beekeeping, supering hives 6:11-8:05

I had your video playing while I was crushing some honey, I looked up and I saw you in that pink shirt , sun glasses, and a bandana with a circle on the front and though, "I'll bee a son of a gun, the Karate Kid is all grown up and sporting a beard as well!" Happy to see your dad is still teaching you things, I'm betting it was him who showed you the queen when you released them and you just stuck your watermelon finger in there to get folks to think you saw her. Your dad is so humble. God's peace brother.

628DirtRooster Bees His presence makes me happy. Raised in a multigenerational farming family and having no choice but to move away from the only life I knew in my late 20’s-I know the feeling of raising livestock of any kind & feeding folks with a product you’ve cultivated . It’s something extremely special regardless, however when it’s a family based business- it’s just that much more meaningful. Thank you for sharing with the world.

I had looked away for a second and heard Pete talking funny and I thought he must have taken some stings to the lips but fortunately he was ok 😂 I always think the bees must be so pissed at those pollen traps, they work themselves to death bringing in that pollen to feed their babies and then they bring it home and it all disappears before they get in the hive. It’s always nice to see your dad. Thanks for another great video.

I personally like Dirt Rooster because he’s easy to follow even for a newby like me & he really gives good advice. My husband & I went & saved a hive from being killed & it was horribly infested with beetle larva. The bees absconded. I watched him on how to kill the larva & save the comb. I rendered it & get the wax. Soapy water did the job when nothing else I tried would. One KZbinr said to just burn everything it’s a waste of time & ruined. I pretty much listen to him when I need advice…which is a lot of the time!!!

Smorgasbord of bees today folks.... Starting with Dad doing the tagline. What's not to love? Great time, I needed a break here and this was just what I needed to get my spirits up. It reminds me that I need to take a ride and check my swarm traps, we finally got some swarming weather here in Central NY. Your shot of 35,000 lbs of bees (with hives) has me remembering to put the jacket in the truck. I wish it was a Guardian, also wish I had enough bees to scare me like the truckload, or even the nuc stack, maybe we should do a photo contest, most extreme hive. I'm sure there would be some wild ones. Seems like the southern bees have better aim though, you guys are always getting stung in bad places. Nose is bad, edge of nostril is extreme. I read somewhere where they were interviewing an actor, and when asked how he summons his best cry, he replied "I just pull a nose hair before they start rolling". he would have done well with a bee sting to the nostril. ok, bloviated enough, and Mr Ed got his in. Back to work. Good video guys - you have a great team. Thanks!

It is thoroughly enjoyable watching and listening to a fine gentleman like your Dad and am pleased he looks to be in reasonably good health. Pollen traps are yet another thing I learned about Bee keeping watching your site, God bless you both. I find I often rush over to the general internet to search for information regarding terms and items of equipment I see during presentations by yourself, Mr Ed and JPthebeeman. What river does that swamp open on to and is it anywhere near the sea? Because I don't otherwise know how that boat could put all those engines to use safely and legally! It looked like somebody found a rocket on the beach and turned it into a boat and I reckon it probably needed a fuel tank about that big too! I recently watched some blogs by an engineering company that modifies engines to produce crazy amounts of power. Evidently some of them were for airboats which caused me to wonder if they are widely used in swamps in that part of the US?

You talking about pushing over this boxes reminded me of the time I loaned my buddy my dump trailer. The sides are about 6 feet tall. Well he needed my hand truck and I stopped by his shop to drop off the hand truck and he wasn't there. I didn't want the hand truck stolen so I lifted it up and over the side of my trailer. Well.. I didn't realize that he had the entire floor of the trailer full of full nucs. I never ran so fast in my life. Let's just say the hand truck smacking those nucs pissed some girls off.

9:58 One of my favorite songs EVER. If you were alive in the 70's you'll know this song. I was born in 1971 and used to think my older brother was a DISCO KING. he had big tall black shoes bell bottom pants huge collars and a super fast bright blue 1973 AMC Javelin SST jacked up in the back wth wide tires. That car would spin donuts until you were blind from white smoke. He was my idol in the 70s and 80s

What is up with your head? I couldn't at first figure out what the heck you were wearing! I trust your skin issues will resolve soon. At least you were laughing a lot in this video as usual! Hey it is great to see your Dad and brother. 😊

Randy. Prior to closing up that job, does all that honey have to be power washed out, or sopped up some how ( before putting the insulation in), or, can it just be left? Good video by the way, and your dad looks great. Thanks.

Out of curiosity what would happen if you framed up brood like that covered/saturated with honey? Could they clean it? Also brings up a question I always forget to ask, all eggs in cells have royal jelly, right? then if it's going to be made queen it's loaded with more royal jelly? what about worker brood and drones, what and how are they fed? could larva eat honey? I know by watching Hornet King that hornets and wasps bring meat to the larva which is then eaten and then regurgitated to feed the adults. I know bees aren't quite like that but also made me wonder what and how bee larva are fed..... A bit long winded I know, feel free to just tell me to google it lol. THANKS!!!

They will clean it if you make them which can require a little effort. The capped brood isn't really hurt. It's the open brood that would be affected/drown. The wouldn't be able to clean it fast enough though and small hive beetles would start getting a foot hold and a rotten smell would get in there from the dead larvae they didn't get to.

Had a quick question. Will a new queen first start laying new drone to replace the genetics or will they go for workers? I’m interested to determine if the new queen tries to overturn the elites and gets political by focusing on changing the new brood to her line. Bee politics and cultural revolution.
