I am SO excited to find this video! I learned this hand smocking pattern way back in 1973 and created a beautiful pillow with it...only to lose the pillow many years ago and trying to recall and relearn how I did the pattern! I just couldn't remember, and haven't been able to find a teaching platform to relearn it--until NOW!!

Thank you so much for the tutorial! I would like to ask about smocking from size small to big on a half circle skirt panel, is it possible to sew it smoothly ?

Hi there Eva thanks so much. That sounds like a super idea...I know I made another video once which increases the scale but I haven't done one on a skirt. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pX7Zl3Z5esStqNU

Hi Lata thanks for watching...here's what I used if you can work it out from there! My original size (using 1 inch squares) was 22 across and 16 down. Then once finished it measured 4 inches across and 15 inches down.

Hi there usually the honeycomb smocking can shrink to about half the size of your original fabric size. Hope this helps.

What is the ratio to determine how much fabric you will need before making this pattern?
@didsburyartstudio2 жыл бұрын
Hi it looks like the original size (using 1 inch squares) were 22 across and 16 down. I've just measured the smocked finished piece and it measured 4 inches across and 15 inches down. I hope that this helps. thanks for watching Cathrine.😄
