That creek and the over growth provides refuge for every creepy crawling critter you can imagine. Now if the property owner chooses, he can grow a living fence of his choice and replace the SEASONAL privacy. (winter that dies back and has no privacy). Planting an evergreen hedge will. ALSO the health of those mature trees will be fortified. Removing dead wood and trimming will be far easier.

I was thinking the same thing . We bought three acres that butted up against a tree farm . @@Lithanify Great to be w/like minded! 🙋‍♀We use the Nellie Stevens Holly. It is extremely disease/pest resistant. Has a magnificent white flower sweet aroma in the spring, and the infamous Christmas red berry. If fed well, happy soil and moisture we have seen anywhere from 2' to 4' annual growth once the roots establish. The nellie is a female and to make it REALLY thrives best paired with another variety such as Chinese/Pointed leaf in proximity to help pollenate. The nellie offers security (many won't push through a holly hedge) and privacy. I have seen far too many non broadleaf mature hedges fall to disease. My 18' 15 year Leland Cyprus hedge fell after the polar vortex. The nellie...pushed through and THRIVED. Do consider this option. Zone 7 is my story. ~ be well friend!

I understand the neighbor's anger. Those trees provided shade and some privacy that's now gone. I had lived next door to a couple for many years. My room at the back of the house has large windows that were blocked from view by their enormous bushes. I never gave the bushes a second thought until a younger couple bought their house and proceded to cut back a signigficant portion of the bushes(they've never had a garage there). Now anyone walking down the alley, that allows us access to our garages behind the house, has a clear view into my family room. It's discomforting to be sitting and watching TV while people walk past and stare into the house. I've since planted a couple flowering trees in my yard along the fence that separates our properties. It will be a long while before we have our privacy again.🤨

I got a new neighbor a few years ago. Nice couple from up north moving down intot he mountains to find peace. They thought they had water rights on my part of the river. The real estate agent lied about the property line, which actually goes about 50 yards on the other side. I made it a point to own both sides. So they have a landscaping company come out and I wake up to find half of my shoreline chewed up. Boy was I pissed! However, I wasn't pissed at the workers, I was pissed at the people who told them my land was their land. But since they already did half I told them to finish up but I was not going to pay for it, they'd have to settle with the people who hired them. Long story short they realized the mistake and are suing the real estate lady. Really a nice couple, they are learning marksmanship on my range!

The sole problem was the one who didn’t seem to understand that primer goes on first, and is a different color so when the finish coat is being applied the painters can make sure everything is covered with the finish coat.

As you have discovered the hard way - when cutting along property lines make sure where the lot lines are located. If the boundary markers are not readily visible have the person you are working for mark the line. In some state cutting material on another person's property is a criminal offense even if it is brush.

Property lines are often disputed, even with a a certified servoy you can get disputes, the fact both property owners had any discussions from the start is amazing because it dosnt always happen. However because there is no defining marks to show who owns what you as a contractor could only use GPS maps and these can be as far as 5 feet off becuse as the sat that takes the pictures are not stright over the property line its taken at an angle. If you look at these maps year to year on a city or county property webpage youll see the maps lines change and if you look at the shadows it kinda shows how stright the picture was taken. You cant trust these maps to be accurate they are not. The one grace he had was the telephone pole but it stoped anything 10' of either side on an easment can be clear cut and neither property owner can say shit about it.

Very interesting. In many states doing this work in a creek bed would be controlled by permitting requirements and, perhaps, entirely prohibited due to wetland regulations. Regarding the machine ... You are so right on with that. We bought a property that our neighbors owned. It's like fence building was a favorite hobby for them. I say that because I have, and I am totally conservative in this estimate, piled and burned over 150 brush piles since I began clearing the yaupon, privet, Greenbriar, sweetgum, kudzu and Chinese poplar thicket that it had grown into. I have yet to burn a pile that did not have fence wire in it. Along with that I've found 2 old horse drawn turning plows, various other implement parts, 8 cutting edges from road grader mold boards tied to chain link fence sections and 3 tanker bars(long pry bars). Plus a myriad of random "whatthahellizits". AND a nephew of the family, who worked from the local power company, put a 5 strand fence of utility poles and electrical transmission wire around it all using all the oddball anchors and tensioners that go with it. I've already filled a 40 yard roll off with scrap iron and am almost ready to fill a second one. We have stripped the steel core out of about 1½ miles of transmission wire which gives us probably 1000 lbs of clean aluminum to sell. And we're still going. I can't imagine how bad a mulching contractor would have cussed at me if I had hired one. LMAO.

As soon as the canals were piped the trees died. And since the climate has trended hotter lately many other trees are dying and we are having to find different species. I currently am a survey technician working to be a LSIT and it amazes me that one land owner finds out the lawn they mowed with the fancy landscaping extends 50 feet into the adjacent property and is made at me or another chief because they made the mistake of not hiring a surveyor themselves before doing the landscaping.

@@minnesotarc7964 that's why it always pays to have your property surveyed by professionals licensed in this. In Ohio, it's illegal to remove property stakes that are driven into the ground by a licensed surveyor; not some wooden stakes, those mean nothing. From experience, best to put a rock over that stake because heaven forbid the lawn mower catches it and then dad is in a tizzy over the damage to the lawn mower blade - I learned that at the age of eight

One cool part about living next to the golf course is they do all the lawn maintenance all the time, and it looks fantastic / also living next to a park or an area that is in a flood zone. They won't allow you to build a house there, but the city or county has to maintain the property and keep it mode, and you are guaranteed not to have loud and noisy neighbors

It is unfortunate that there was a miscommunication between the two land owners but as he said in the video it could have been a very big problem since he was encroaching on the other owners property line. If the other owner did not have prior knowledge there could have been serious consequences. In the state of PA if you go onto someone else's property and cut down a tree no matter how big or small you can be sued for three times the value of the tree witch is determined by my number of rings on the tree. As he said that is why it is a good idea to know where exactly the property line is in relation to where you are working when working on or near a property line.
