It’s an old podcast to comment on, but damn this conversation touches a bunch of triggers…but as a man with a bunch of unresolved trauma, just trying to push through life; and knowing that a lot of men just choke these things down and try to “walk it off”, it means a lot to hear two guys that lived through their own trauma discuss taking it on, and seeking therapy to try to help themselves through what happened.

This was such an incredible interview, honeydew is becoming a favorite. To hear Dan and Ryan talking about these things that many of us avoid thinking about helps others understand they aren't alone thier struggles. I did the chain smoking, angry and avoiding help until the most important person in my life said you're in a bad place, please talk to someone. 5 years ago things changed for me, a quality trauma therapist and loads of effort, I came out the other side. Hearing these guys talk about the things they're talking about is such a postive thing. Thank you for this.

Man Dan Soder is really blowing up! This was a great conversation, I relate. My life was turned upside down at 16. My Vietnam bipolar/alcoholic war vet of a father had already died at 7, and my mom worked really hard to move my brother and I and make our lives better. Then my brother started to act worse. And one day home alone the FEDs raided my house because of him. That among other things crazy shit that caused trauma. And it hasn't been until the past few years that I worked out , rather working out issues with anxiety, projecting, fears. And how I relate to the world, others and myself. That's why I have such a pure love for comedy, it made some terrible moments not so terrible. Thank you! You both are hilarious, I'm so happy for both of you!

At 15 I woke up completely paralyzed,on a ventilator, inside an MRI with zero clue where I was or what was going on.Literally what came to my mind was that I had been abducted by aliens and they were using me for a battery and I was almost completely drained of my energy which explained (in my head) why I couldn't move or speak.100% convinced myself of that until they pulled me out. Then I spent the next year and a half learning how to crawl, stand, walk, and use my hands again.Instead of making me bitter or angry about missing out on highschool, what my friends were out doing,it just made me extremely greatful and just happy to be alive and able to talk.It made me appreciate the smallest of actions on a ridiculously high level.Because when I was paralyzed,on a ventilator,no way to communicate and my balls itched and I couldn't scratch them or tell anyone to and just laying there screaming in my head made me realize instantly how awesome it is just to scratch my balls whenever I needed to.Some horrible life experiences turn you bitter and some just make you extremely happy to just be here walking and talking.IDGAF about much... just insanely happy just to still be here.
