nice to see you back (back reviewing audio gear), haha

I was so so so happy to see your new video about audio gear. Much more when you tell about replacing the a45 with zx300 cuz that is also my plan although I am really enjoying my a45 atm =))

Hey Lach, I’ve recently gone back to minidisk. I like having to carefully choose what I want to okay, and titling albums with PS2 keyboards and getting to know the albums again.

Thinking of getting one. And yes, HK isn't cheap like before. Used to travel and get things there but now more of ordering online cuz normally cheaper. Well, the black market is still thriving there but...not as wonderful as before.

Why not add an Anti slip surface on the KANN or at least a rubber band around it so it has some resistance from sliding? At least that's what I do when I use a small DAC for table top use when travelling.

Oh, and we have the same Sony. That case is insane.

Hi Lach. Would you care to give me a few words of comparison between the E4000 and the RE400? I remember you reviewed the RE400 some years ago and I have really loved passionately my RE400 but recently they have started to fail after years of usage....

Love seeing you upload after meeting you yesterday at the food court (If you don't remember me my name is Efty or FT as some people like to call me). I love the hint of where you're new job is when you told me when I met you. Kinda know a secret now hahaha. Sorry for the rushed meeting as my friends were in a short timeframe. Hope to see you again and loving what you're doing with your channel. Once again it was an honour meeting you.

Where in Shenzhen did you get this? Huaqiangbei area? I'm headed over there in Sept, and would love to find places that sell electronics for users and not builders. There's a million places that sell boards, batteries, components etc but I don't know where to look when it comes to more user end electronics.

Ah Lachlan...ya missed out on all those all you can eat HK street food I promised you. :D Nice haul! Enjoy! I would have let you check out the most insane 350HKD in ears from KZ Acoustics, the ZS10. Ridiculously good for a brain melting price. 10 drivers!

Ahh yeah sorry we couldn't touch base on that, was a very hectic trip. Hopefully next time :) Maybe I can have some kind of group meet up.
@joesatchton2126 жыл бұрын
No need to apologize - just kidding! But yes, I would love one day to meet up and pick your brain on this stuff. I'm not leaving HK any time soon and hell yes, a meet up thing would indeed be a lot of fun. Especially for HK Chinese food, which is always best with a group. :) cheers from a fellow tip-roller lol

Hey Lachlan, I'm searching for a phone that has good dac in it. Do you recommend anything else or which phone do you use?
@metroid2096 жыл бұрын
The Sony player looks really nice. I used to own a digizoid z02 external dac and found it a hassle to carry basically 2 devices. Even now, not sure if I could carry a mp3 player and a phone. Curious if you've ever heard of the brand cowon?
@lachlanlikesathing6 жыл бұрын
I have seen the Cowon's, but never tried 'em. Over time I've gone the other direction: I find I end up playing with my phone too much while I'm listening to music, so I like the focus of having the DAP and putting my phone away. But I always carry a backpack with me sooo

Have you had the chance to hear the Nuforce EDC3 from Massdrop? I’d love to know your impressions of them. I have a pair and they’re pretty good with only a few regions of the audio spectrum that bother me. Overall though for a triple BA iem for $100 I’m not sure they can be beat.

I remember you going off on a rant a while back about hi res music and yet you've got an astell and kern kann and a the Sony dac as well....
@lachlanlikesathing6 жыл бұрын
Yeah honestly it’s not so much the high resolution aspect as it is having a player that I can bring to places and demo a wide variety of stuff with. That said, I won’t lie: some of these DAPs are just very nice and shiny.
@antoinep97336 жыл бұрын
That Sony DAP looks lovely in ninja black. I’d be paranoid about buying a fake too, especially when you’re spending that much money.
@lachlanlikesathing6 жыл бұрын
Mhmm though I don’t know if this product is too niche for fakes. More likely grey import or B stock etc.

Heya! Do you hear any hissing with your E4000 or the E5000 that you've demo'd from your sources? Also, how's the noise isolation?
@lachlanlikesathing6 жыл бұрын
Nope, they don’t seem that sensitive. Noise isolation is better than you would expect given the simple design! It’s not Ety/Shure level but I used it on a plane and it helped dull things.
@Alex555556 жыл бұрын
If you suffer from hiss with sensitive IEMs, I strongly suggest ifi IEMatch. It works great for me
@FauxtakuLounge6 жыл бұрын
The hiss on the Sony is obscene considering the current market of largely hissless players.

I want a DAP better than my Xduoo X2, but the feature set I want means either dropping $300 minimum on an Android DAP and settling for mediocre usability, or getting a new phone from LG because it just makes more sense than buying a DAP.
@johnyang7996 жыл бұрын
Chet Sellars You don't really need a dap. Better off with lg smartphone and a legit desktop setup.

Hi Lachlan, I have a doubt. Where do you buy or download your music for the Sony? 🤔
@lachlanlikesathing6 жыл бұрын
I really should have a copy paste for this. I try to get my music in the following order based roughly on getting the highest revenue share to the artist: Direct from artist / Bandcamp / Direct from record label / Bleep.com / CD / iTunes

Hi Lachlan, Nice well rounded review of that portable media player. And please don't keep us in limbo with regards to your "your NEW job", ok? I mean, unless you like to torture us and keep us guessing right? BTW I'm going in my 2nd week with my new MASS SENNS HD 6xx's and as I expected, I am just not getting tired of this sound signature. I think I've told you before that I'm not an audiophile like yourself be ANY means. But I DO however, enjoy, and am not shy about spending the extra $$$ when it comes to getting what I pay for. That said, I have a few questions for you; 1. Do you have a pair of the MASS SENNS HD6xx's? And if so, what do you think about them? 2. If you DO have a pair, can you do a review of them? 3. If you don't have a pair, [although I highly DOUBT you don't], have you tested a pair of these out, and what do you think of them? I'm really interested in what you think of them. I really am. I think you have a real knack of describing sound sigs that many hardcore audiophiles struggle with communicating. Anyway, I'm interested in what you have to say, and please be as detailed as you can about them ok? Thanks Lachlan, I'd appreciate it. And incidentally, you might be interested in knowing that in the last 5 months, you have played a key role in the investment I've put into the audio end of my PC audio and gaming side of my hobby. And I thought you ALSO might like to know that I'm probably about twice your age [55yrs old. And listening to you talk about audio signatures and talking about headphones, has not only educated me in the audio world, but educated me enough to make an informed decision on each of my headphones I've purchased thus far. And lemme tell you, that's not an easy feat to accomplish. So please keep up the fantastic work ok? and keep the videos coming my friend !!! :))
@antoinep97336 жыл бұрын
Mike Auger Search: “Lachlan likes a thing Sennheiser HD650”, as you’re probably aware, it’s effectively the same headphone. (Listening on my HD-6XXs at the moment, love them)
@lachlanlikesathing6 жыл бұрын
I do not have the HD6xx, but as Antoine suggests I do have some thoughts on the HD650. Since I own the Audio Technica R70x though I've never seen much point in getting something from the HD6x series as they are quite similar. They are certainly popular for a reason though! I do currently have a Massdrop PC37x, which is sort of a distant cousin? And glad to hear that I could be of help :)
