Clean-up work was underway across Hong Kong the day after violent protests marred grand celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
The violence escalated on October 1, 2019, despite the city being under virtual lockdown since the morning, with many shops and MTR railway stations closed. Marches and rallies quickly descended into chaos, including a police officer opening fire with a live round at a protester for the first time.
Protesters vandalised government offices and MTR railway stations, as well as businesses seen to have close ties with China or for voicing disapproval with the ongoing protests.

Unfortunately, that's their scenario. Bring chaos to the country until its economy plunge to the bottom. When HK turns to ash they just simply ask western countries (US) to intervene n support the country. Of course it's illegal for any country in the world to get political support from foreign countries, but it's in gray area if the country can ask support from western NGOs, which is the same. One of them could be NED. . Most of HKers actually don't want independence from China. They who want to separate HK from China is just small numbers. According to protest organizers, there are about 1 mil people join in protest. But compare to HK total population which is 7.5 mil, 1 mil is still minority. It's not even reach 1/4 of them all. The problem is.... this silent majority are now living in threats. They cannot express themselves or at least tell the truth. Because there are several cases of shop owners got their place harassed just because they support HK police. Just look at Toby Guu's videos and check his Instagram, he got some life threats on the comment n message just because he showed the violence nature of these black protesters.

Celestial Being please also consider that Hong Kong is advocating for a different level of freedom with Universal Suffrage and freedom of press and speech, of which Malaysia does not even fully have. @@nickryan6787 No it is not similar at all. Did you learn Malaysian history at all or at least Sarawak history? Before Sarawak joined the Malaysian Federation, the Cobbold Commission was formed to see if Sabah and Sarawak want to join Malaysia. Brunei rejected the idea becoming part Malaysia. Indonesia and the Phillipine were against of Sarawak and Sabah of joining as well. It was reported by the Commission that 80 percent Sabah and Sarawak wanted to join Malaysia. Sarawak was not handed over to Malaysia by the British period. Stop spreading lies. Hong Kong however was stolen from China. The 100 years agreement expired in 1997, returning Hong Kong back to China as it should be and 2 systems 1 country was created. But some people in Hong Kong are still caged by the post colonial mentality and brainwashed to see China as evil by the West. @GIN.356.A 4 жыл бұрын
@@pacificdawn5999 the thing is, I think freedom is not a binary option, you don't simply have it or not have it, it's a spectrum. Yes there is less freedom on the mainland, but for any day to day functions the liberty required is sufficient. Do I think China should be more free? Yes, but not at the cost of lawlessness and hooliganism. It should be a gradual shift as citizens understand their rights and the extent of those rights. No point of having democracy if it doesn't serve to better the society.

The irony is; the original proposed extradition bill was a bigger concern for rich mainlanders living in HK rather than regular HK folks (in the short term).. The CCP has a bigger interest in arresting rich Chinese people in HK or any city outside China to obtain ownership to whatever existing business wealth they have in mainland and overseas (US,Canada,Au,UK).. There's a reason why tycoons like Li Ka Shing kept quiet for over 10 weeks.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/apTaiZycecZ2oKc

@Hoàng NguyênIt doesn't make sense.. So what do you think is the chain in mainland? Democracy , freedom and human rights are just a marketing term for the obscenely rich capitalists from the west , especially America to milk the whole world. Almost every 10 years of economy period circle, America produced big chaos in the name of democracy, freedom and human rights in surrounding place of a country that they think may be threatening. Chinese mainlanders struggle to rise with some sacrifice of human rights, and now become the only superpower that stands up against American's folly. Hong Kong nincompoops and rioters are not respect worthy, shame on them..

What do you think the right way to do...chain the arrested Protesters in connected chains or belts and force them round the clock to clean up the mess. What does these lot know about Democracy and Freedom?. vandalism, violence, etc. Those who instigated a lot behind the line like Joshua, Martin, Denise, etc will jump ship and plain sailing to US, Canada, UK, etc. for a brighter future leaving behind the front liners to face the music and black listed in Hong Kong to rot their future....
