In Hong Kong, a crushing blow was dealt to the pro-democracy movement as dozens of activists and ex-lawmakers were sentenced to prison. They will serve anywhere from 4 to 10 years. They were prosecuted under a Beijing-imposed law for their roles in an unofficial primary election. 47 were accused overall but 2 were acquitted earlier this year.
