That balcony view was just beautiful. The room definitely feels like a time capsule from the 90's!

I love the classic Disney room.

For what it’s worth, found a picture of the 7 piece set. Dopey was a shower cap and Happy was razors and shaving cream. Also Doc used to be a sewing kit

What has been lost in the resort room renovation updates is the attention to the details... Those extra small details that create a complete emersion of the theme.

Looking forward to more HK content! Also, would love a (updated) Tom’s honest opinion on Shanghai DL video. A capstone to that series would be cool.

I’ve been debating going for another trip to Shanghai and Hong Kong this year and trying out the hotels on property. This hotel is PERFECT.

We just came back from here. It's definitely due its refurb as we started our trip at the explorer and this felt like a step down. The pictures were faded but still an experience to feel the old style of the grand Floridian. Love your reviews! You have helped me to complete the 6 castles this year 👍

@readysetdemo 0 seconds ago LOVE it - we spent 2 nights of our honeymoon at the Grand Floridian in 1996 and it was just like that. We are now DVC at the GF Villas - but I remember that old school look. We also stayed in the Disneyland hotel in Paris in the 2000s.

So Tokyo seems like obviously the better use of vacation dollars without kids, but the general lack of lines, calm vibes, and food options keep making me think Hong Kong might be the better move with younger kids. And the value from booking these resort hotels seems remarkable.

The lack of lines is definitely an improvement at Hong Kong (and to a lesser extent Shanghai) but I will warn you that their idea of a “line” is a LOT less chill or structured than it is in the west. Shanghai is worse about it than Hong Kong but at both people are often looking to pass you, or to run even the shortest distances if it’ll get them one person ahead in line. So calmer by far, but it’s a unique flavor of chaos you have to just be ready to put up with or it’ll be a shock 😂

I was wondering that too.

It does look a bit outdated. But I’m confident they can refurbish these rooms better than anything in the US hotels. Although I will say I was pleasantly surprised at the Pixar place hotel.

Classic, and I prefer it. I like the theming. If not themed, why pay so much?

It looks nice, but I would not be happy with that neighboring public balcony just from a security standpoint.
