I've been to all the international Disney Parks, and HK DL twice (2017, and 2019). Although DisneySea was incredible, I had the most fun at HK DL, specifically because it's the smallest Disney Castle park (although it's still quite huge). Because of its size, you can do all the rides and shows, within one day, and not feel rushed or exhausted trying to finish them all. You can enjoy it all at a fantastic pace (+ it has Mystic Manor 😍)

I remember when I was in Hong Kong, I wanted to go to HK Disneyland so bad. My wife told me don't worry, it's not busy. I was so anxious the entire morning, as we had to go to a different part of the city to pick up the tickets. We didn't arrive until around 10:30 and I was pretty upset, thinking I wouldn't get to do anything because I arrived so late. I'd been a WDW pass holder for 4 years, so I was used to huge crowds. Then....wow. In 4 hours, I'd done everything. Mystic Manor and Grizzly Mountain were 10-15 minute wait times. I agree. Like you, I LOVE HK Disneyland. It's my favorite BECAUSE it's not busy. It's so relaxing. I can't wait to go back, since I was there before the castle was plussed - 2016.

if they build a second gate today I think it should be a disneysea style park or a park themed to myths and legends they could also build a villains kingdom park

As I now live in The Philippines HK Disneyland is my local Disneyland. So it would be good if Disney could do a deal with the HK government and so Disney can make a second park for f some sort. But I think it’s highly doubt the second park will ever be built. Anyhow Shanghai and Tokyo Disney are not to far away. So my wife and I as we have never been to Any Asian Disneyland’s will go to HK Disneyland At beginning of September and hopefully sometime next year we will go to Tokyo and Shanghai Disneyland.

Gone is the "wrong" positioning of HKDL as the world's smallest Disney resort. I have been to almost all Disney resorts but I reckon HKDL is the most "user-friendly". I could only manage to take 3-4 rides a day at most in Orlando, Anaheim and Tokyo due to the extremely long queues (3 hours waiting) but in HK, but in HK 1-hour waiting is enough. It's less tired to run around in HKDL compared to the bigger parks where more time is needed to travel different theme zones. You know what, I could find a seat closer to the castle in front of me to see the fireworks but not in others due to sheer size with huge visitor volume! HKDL is more international with English and Chinese (Cantonese & Putonghua) languages suitable for all travellers, same as food! I could have Chinese dim sum and "siu mei" (roasted pork), HK-styled egg tarts, American hot dogs, Japanese sushi, Indian curry etc. In hot summer, I could easily enter the indoor venues with full air-con to enjoy various shows. I am with the HKDL's expansion into phase 2. DisneySea is not a bad idea as HK is surrounded by sea but it ought to be having HK-unique attractiveness!

I completely agree with you, I’ve never been to HKDL but every time I watch a video on it or do some research it always comes out as super friendly park!

As always, super interesting. I love that thecastle has now been improved for Hong Kong but I feel it still struggles against Shanghai so I imagine it will all depend on how successful the new changes to the current park are

I think it would be an amazing third gate! Of course, after being further developed… there’s so much possible IP you can incorporate in a Forrest themed park as well… All the way from Avatar to Moana!

I’d love to see that. I think that Adventureland could use a thrill ride, which is something that’s missing from the park. You have the Grizzly Mountain, but something smaller yet more thrilling could definitely be added!

HK Disneyland is a great park. Everything is well maintained. Wait time is always low. Merch is great. One of the biggest problems is that it is overshadowed by Shanghai and Tokyo. Shanghai is easier for Chinese tourists to go to (and it’s bigger, newer and cheaper). And Tokyo is much more appealing to oversea tourists (with DisneySea, more rides, and much cheaper). HK Disneyland also has nothing special going for it. Toy Story land is not unique. Mystic Manor and grizzly are just rides in other parks with a twist. Frozen land could’ve been the special thing that could draw oversea visitors, but Tokyo and Paris are getting it as well. As someone from Hong Kong living in the Bay Area now, I would fly to LA and go to Disneyland for a weekend. But when I travel back to Hong Kong, HK Disneyland doesn’t even cross my mind, even though I could get in for free with family cast members.

That’s quite sad. You are completely right saying that most Chinese costumers go for Shanghai, but, at least from where I’m standing, it looks like a lot of HKDL visitors come from other countries in Southeast Asia, 1.6M in a 6.2M total in 2017 were international. Unfortunately the park was set to be a failure from the beginning, being the smallest one in the world and offering nothing new. I truly hope they can turn it around because from what I see (never been there unfortunately) it looks like an amazing place with great cast members!

I think you're thinking of OLC's Tokyo Disneyland which is going to demolish and then build a whole new Space Mountain.

Yeah, you're right. Hong Kong's Space Mountain will remain with the Star Wars theming for the time being, Tokyo on the other hand will demolish the current building, extend Tomorrowland and build a completely new one! Quite impressive as well.

It’s different because in HKDL the resort is kept afloat by taxpayer money from the people of Hong Kong. The resort is a shared venture between Disney and the government, so it works like that.

Hong Kong has Ocean Park, HKDL's biggest competitor, which is considered to be a superior experience to HKDL with more attractions and a larger variety of experiences. A "Disneysea" park wouldn't be a good choice for a 2nd gate, since the Sea theme would put it in direct competition with Ocean Park, and the park would need to be just as impressive as the one on Tokyo, which I doubt HKDL would have the budget for.

That’s a good point. I just used that “plan” because it showcases the potential of the land incredibly well! I’ve also heard that Ocean Park isn’t doing so well, which in the long run may do Disney some favours… either way, there’s so many possibilities for a second park!

I visited Ocean Park and was not impressed by it from an attractions standpoint, location is great with breathtaking views but that’s it. Disney is far more superior and with the added attractions and redesigned castle I’m sure it’s even better. I personally really enjoyed the park and can’t wait to visit again.

@@Nabhan82they’re not doing well in the last few years. In 2014 it was awarded as the best theme park in the world. They have since closed down multiple attractions
