I've been re-watching the trilogy this week and the one thing I noticed is just how genuine and gritty everyone looks. You had a good number of the cast wearing their outfits in and out of the scenes with them getting dirty, sweaty, etc. They were really dedicated to "living" in the world that they were acting in. I would say the exact opposite about this piece of trash. They couldn't give less of a f***.

The Orcs are redeemable, but not in such a way as the fans of The Rings of Power think. This is not about an Orc changing his mind or something like that. Tolkien mentioned this in Letter 153 - we are talking about the fundamental concept of creation here. The Orcs were the creation of Eru Ilúvatar's Flame Imperishable, just like Elves or Men. They used to be Elves or Men, after all. But they were corrupted by Melkor, turned into dark mockery. That's what Orcs are - a parody of Ilúvatar's creation. Redemption of Orcs would mean cleansing them of Melkor's corruption, therefore destroying what makes them Orcs. Redeemed Orc is a freed spirit of Elf (or human) but not an Orc.

TBF I think Tolkien said at some point that orc women existed and even orcs would want to clap cheeks but my objection is the humanisation of orcs as creatures with morals and ambitions beyond total war and conquest. The Hobbit and Lord Of The Rings trilogy movies were stupendous. The Rings of Power Season 1 was passable but not in the same league. Season 2 is S..L..O..W...MOVING and just plain BORING. There aren't any in Tolkien's world. The only race that has swarthy individuals are humans and among them only the Haradrim and Easterlings - those that live in the east and the south of ME that reflect Asia and Africa respectively. The rest reflect visually and culturally the native Europeans, mostly the English and British as well as central and northern Europeans. His fantasy world has always been heavily native European.

How does this show manage to have cost over 1 billion dollars and yet: - Have some of the worst storytelling and writing ever - everything looks super cheap (sets, costumes etc.) and the colors are all completely oversaturated - the acting is horrible - the dialogues are god awful and cringe the list goes on... What Amazon needs to do is hire random huge fans of Tolkien to work together with the writers of the show. Also checking the directing. Even if they want to make millions from the show without caring about the stories of Tolkien and the fandom, that would be the best business choice. I personally enjoyed the second season more than the first one (🤢) but it has many major flaws. Things that are not accurate to the story and cringe moments.. After you get a ton of complaints for the first season, you should be more careful of what you produce. But no! I cannot even fit in my brain how making an orc be a loving father and showing his wife folding an orc baby was a good idea.. 😝😬😬😬
