Hong Kong feels like a country (or a sub-country) within a country to me. Its older generation had never been through communism and younger generations never align their values with the mainland Chinese counter part. The province of Canton (especially old cities like Guangzhou) feels like a “bridge”which bridged the gap between Hong Kong and the rest of Mainland China culturally. Even though it’s supposed to be a former British colony, it doesn’t have much commonwealth vibe to it imo. Although their English is much better, that is to be sure, and the double decker bus is pretty British.

The development of Hong Kong is a real miracle. 200 years ago, it was an uninhabited island. With the eastward expansion of the British Empire, it became the intersection of trade between China and Britain and developed rapidly. After the Communist Party of China came to power in 1949, they saw the prosperity here, so they deliberately did not take it back and used it as a window for communication between China, Britain and the United States.

You say you're giving a full guide of Hong Kong but you didn't even go to any nature spots or spots outside of the typical tourist city downtown areas. Even tourist areas of the Big Buddha or Tai O is the bare minimum of a tourist guide that includes some of the nature spots. Don't call it a full guide if you're only scratching the surface. When you include outlying islands (Lamma, Cheung Chau, etc.), beaches (Cheung Sha, Repulse, Tai Long Wan, etc.), New Territories (Sai Kung, Lantau, etc.), cycling (Tai Wai to Tai Mei Tuk, etc), museums (M+, Palace Museum, HK Science Museum, HK Museum of Art, etc), hiking (Lion's Rock, Dragon's Back, Sunset Peak), rooftop bars, temples, etc. then you can say it's a fuller guide. Even all the places I've listed is only scratching the surface too. They're all in the HK Tourism website which is in English as well so there isn't the excuse of not knowing spots because of the language barrier. Other than that, great basic guide, love your enthusiasm of Hong Kong. If HK blows your mind already with the little you've seen I highly recommend checking out some of the spots I've listed, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on those! And don't worry about it being too far away, even New Territories is less than 2 hours from Central. A lot of the outlying islands is only a 30min ferry ride from Central too.

KZbinrs generally give an unrealistic point of view of places. They are focused on spreading misinformation by avoiding reality. Shopping in Hong Kong is a absolute nightmare. International product lines are either expensive or have stopped business in Hong Kong. Western restaurants have stopping operation in Hong Kong due to the outrageous rents and regulations by property management. KZbin needs independent people who aren't interested in just saying things to get views.
