Did he cover a single poor area in the city? He literally skipped over 95% of the Metro Manila area
@GLEZERO-kz8ye5 ай бұрын
Actually@@stevem437Manila is pretty diverse what do u mean by 95percent??? If ur talking about slums u can guest, most of that are near tondo, but you must know that there are more upscale business cities in manila including: Ortigas, Makati and BGC...... So let's say it's 50/50... the word "poor" can be subjective........ And as u know manila is composed of dozens of big cities from local to super modern to Historical............... So as I say all is DIVERSE....... And one thing; u must visit manila for ur own so you can see the true rich hospitality of almost all Filipinos..........don't be ignorant..plsss
@stevem4375 ай бұрын
@@GLEZERO-kz8ye No, I think you’re the one who needs to check their ignorance. Manila is literally the densest city in the world. Four of the world’s top 10 densest cities are located in Metro Manila. This is due to the massive amounts of poverty and people living on top of one another. These smaller pockets within the city (I live in BGC) are a SMALL example of the population here. Are you Filipino? Have you ever left the country? The poverty here is shocking. Tons of people living in homes that do not even close and protect from the elements. This is not normal in the vast majority of the rest of the world. Do I live in a nice area? Sure. But all I need to do is walk to the border of BGC to see kids with no shoes, who aren’t in school, begging for money. Focusing on only the nice parts of Manila is an absolute slap in the face to those people. It paints a terribly skewed picture. There is a reason most Filipinos leave this country as soon as they are able.

Manila has 2 sides, Old Manila - Intramuros, Quiapo, Binondo/Chinatown, Dividoria, Tondo etc....and the other side which is ultra modern w/ skyscrapers - Makati, BGC, Eastwood, Rockwell, Ortigas n Cubao centers, Vertis North, Newport city near the airport, Venice Canal Mall, Aseana city n nearby Mall of Asia area , Filinvest city n other newly deceloped townships of Bridgetown, Parklane, Arca North, Arcadia, etc....

That is wrong. "Manila" has borders defined by its charter (RA 409). "Manila" refers only to the capital city at the west coast of NCR. Everything beyond it (e.g. San Juan, Pasay, Makati etc) is not Manila anymore.
@kunstfaerdige82145 ай бұрын
This is not correct. Historically, the entire region was indeed Manila. But this was way back Spanish colonial era. PHL is no longer a Spanish colony. We achieved independence almost a century ago. And since then we have promulgated new laws that redefine our geography. "Manila" today is no longer the same "Manila" ages ago. "Manila" today refers only to the capital city. All the "other side / ultra modern" you mentioned are now part of other autonomous cities that have their own valid identities separate from Manila. Times change. Move on. Keep up!

Danny dissing BGC got instant wrath retribution (the rain) from the BGC deities. LOL just kidding. I understand that coming from the west, BGC may look very similar to most North American cities, thus it may not have that authentic local appeal as compared to Makati which have more elements of Filipino/Local culture. But I think people should start to realize that all future developments would be more like of a BGC, because the locals prefer that direction. BGC has now become the defacto blueprint of new districts being built around the Philippines. It's very common to hear commercial and government developers to tag their developments in pipeline as "The New BGC of the North", "The New BGC of the South", and all other taglines that tries to replicate BGC. Rarely or never you'd encounter "we are building the next Makati".
