That is exactly what I noticed they even finely marked the line between chinese signage and road markings and British. I guess this is the first road in Hong Kong where traffic drives on the right. Signs of changes to come?

@@saladspinner3200 Feels a little weird though going towards Macau / Zhuhai, you are transiting thru Chinese waters thus the Chinese style signs and markings and even Chinese Route Numbering System with destination distance signs to mainland cities provides the illusion that you have already cleared Chinese customs and on a roadtrip across China, but without the proper permits you won't be able to go past the Macau carpark or the Zhuhai Port both on the man made island, especially when both HK and Macau drive on the left but the bridge is on the right. To really go from HK into Mainland via that route, you need a shitload of insurance, permits, and licenses from all 3 regions. It's like im in mainland China, but.. uhh... not really not to mention that "Chinese Land" you are driving on did not exist before the bridge was built! The British designs look so much nicer though, those single white lines in the under water tunnel looks very flimsy compared to the double in the scenic hill tunnel on the HK side.

@@Scrungge it depends, there are huge border complexes with the Mainland that are essentially a one way route within the compound. Depending on the side that you leave, it will lead you to right hand of left hand style of driving. Similar to the principle used in the eurotunnel or the car ferry's.

Why does it turn into a tunnel at around 02:25, and how comes there's no lorries?

The bridge opened in last year to traffic. However, the three separate customs jurisdictions (Hong Kong, Macau and China) have not signed a customs protocol for freight transport. So for now lorries are unable to use the bridge and it's virtually empty except for the occasional bus even during the day. It turns into a tunnel to allow for massive container ships to enter the Pearl River Delta.

That’s how the bridge was designed. The bridge was built to have a 6.7 kilometre undersea tunnel to allow large ships to pass through to the other parts of the world, such as countries like Brazil, India, Bangladesh and a lot more.
