Not long after, the "traditional" hydrofoils were replaced by jetfoil's and that reduced to the present 1h... Once more weather permitting, because during the typhoon season things can get quite nasty. ;-) My father, who passed away long time ago. Used the old steamers which still existed after WWII. Then where soon replaced. So you must be really old. ;-) Cheers

In the short term, it has more political and culture impact than economical. But I have no doubt its strategical value and role in connecting the areas in the region and promote movement of people, business and logistics.

My dad is so proud that he tried to buy an apartment in Zhuhai but Chinese government banned US citizens to purchase there. Now he's hoping to buy in Macau after this pandemic. Apartment is most expensive in HK, then Macau, then cheapest in Zhuhai. After this bridge was done, real estate went up like crazy in all 3 areas. Right now we are hoping Chinese government don't ban us from buying an apartment in Macau too. In the end, our whole family was from Macau! I hope in the future, Zhuhai and Macau are more open to foreigners who want to invest.

I'm an engineer, hopefully one day I can participate in constructing wonderful bridges like this. There are many argues that this bridge cannot be completed without European human and technology. It's true. But remember that each country has its own strength, maybe China's construction technology is not as develop as many countries so they needed help to construct this bridge, but they have 5G and solar panel that other countries have to import.
