I'm on my 50's by now. As a kid between Macau and Hong Kong was already done by hydrofoil. It took around 1h30/1h20, weather permitting. Not long after, the "traditional" hydrofoils were replaced by jetfoil's and that reduced to the present 1h... Once more weather permitting, because during the typhoon season things can get quite nasty. ;-) My father, who passed away long time ago. Used the old steamers which still existed after WWII. Then where soon replaced. So you must be really old. ;-) Cheers

I am amazed at the structure engineering and innovation. It's one of its kind! I am also well aware of the high maintenance cost associated with it and little income it so far has produced from toll. In the short term, it has more political and culture impact than economical. But I have no doubt its strategical value and role in connecting the areas in the region and promote movement of people, business and logistics.

I am from Macau, not just the bridge, Macau has become something more beautiful than Las Vegas! Incomparible! My dad is so proud that he tried to buy an apartment in Zhuhai but Chinese government banned US citizens to purchase there. Now he's hoping to buy in Macau after this pandemic. Apartment is most expensive in HK, then Macau, then cheapest in Zhuhai. After this bridge was done, real estate went up like crazy in all 3 areas. Right now we are hoping Chinese government don't ban us from buying an apartment in Macau too. In the end, our whole family was from Macau! I hope in the future, Zhuhai and Macau are more open to foreigners who want to invest.

This is an artificial masterpiece. In fact, to complete this bridge there are many things to do, not just works described in this video. I'm an engineer, hopefully one day I can participate in constructing wonderful bridges like this. There are many argues that this bridge cannot be completed without European human and technology. It's true. But remember that each country has its own strength, maybe China's construction technology is not as develop as many countries so they needed help to construct this bridge, but they have 5G and solar panel that other countries have to import.

Focus on the common goal they don't have to worry this govt party complain that this is waste of money because they don't get kickback. With one party it's easier to see if someone is corrupt or not.

China has a great political system that came out of revolution, sacrifice and endeavors. This political system makes it possible for engineers to do miracle. I am proud of China for helping the world today. I am in debt to Soviets for rescuing the entire world in WW2 and sacrifice of at least 25 million martyrs. Greetings from Iran/ California.

It's nothing impressive, China has built lots of cross-sea bridges like this one. This one's outstanding point is just it is the longest.

I was watching Ip Man. Wanted to know where Foshan was. Then saw Hong Kong on the same map. Looked up Bridge from Hong Kong to China, and it really very very close. Of course they made it take a different route, and im amazed at this Bridge. Unless im unaware of something else, this has to be one one of the greatest peices of infrastructure ever created.

where are the kind of people that are wondering what kind of environmental impact did China do before they did these big projects just so they can look good they don't worry about anyting else but their prosperity and to say oh we're so great but the truth is didn't even think about the environment at all that is Bill things and destroy the environment just like that big damn they built years ago and everybody told him it would destroy the environment but they went on and did it is time for them to think about what they're building just don't build it it doesn't make them great it makes them look like they what they are killers of the world they don't care about the environment for the world they're part of the scourge of the world

The US has no experience in such mega projects ... if we want to start in such an endeavor We wouldn’t even know where to begin? There are no private construction contractors w this type of experience that can take this challenge and it will take like over 10 years to just complete a study and another 10 years to study on this study
