the gamblers fallacy simply seems right in my head. i roll a d20 twenty times, and i should roll every number once. no nat 20s? so now, i will roll two nat 20s in the next twenty rolls to make it work out with a total of 40 rolls. and that's just MATH, baybee!

That only works if you roll an infinite number of times. Then the stats will actually tend towards equiprobability. If you failed to get a nat 20 for the 20 first rolls, it doesn't affect in any way shape of form the next twenty rolls.
