The question isn't about the difference of the chords being 1 or 2 chords, but what is the difference in the meaning between wearing 1 or 2 chords.

It depends on the honors you’re getting. Typically the school will decide as it varies by school. There are 3 grade honors: cum laude, magna cum laude, summa cum laude. The colors for my school are white, red, gold. You can also get a cord from the honor society. Another cord can come from the sorority you’re in. All that just to say, the meaning varies. The school will tell you which one you need if you receive an honor.
