Extremely well done. You're first KZbinr to actually put the magic 2 through a proper battery test. I rewatched this couple times with advertisements just to support your channel. On topic- I'm shocked the Magic 2 came in so strong. It's 7nm chip seems to optimize power better pound for pound to SD845, since it can keep up with a freaking note 9 and OP6T with notably bigger battery. The Magic 2 phone has just become a MUST BUY for me. Can you find out for international audience when the Magic 2 is globally available???

when you consider the battery size on the Mix 3 compared to the note9, the Mix 3 is phenomenal. the note9 battery capacity is only 20% bigger but only got it an extra 27 minutes of battery life. the note9 is battery hungry, give the Mix 3 that extra 20% of battery capacity and it easily beats the note9 in a battery life test. in fact, if all of these phones had the same battery capacity as the note9 they would put the note9's battery life to shame really. the magic 2 here is the biggest suprise, just shows how battery efficient these new 7nm SoC's can really be can't wait for 2019's flagships 🤩

It is still a great phone. I used it for a week and still had plenty juice left in the tank by the time I went to bed every day :) just because it doesn't last as long as the others doesn't mean it's not a strong performer with an above average battery life 😎

For a more fair comparison, Dark Mode should have been Turned off on OnePlus 6T. You went several times on Battery Management section where OnePlus 6T had to turn on less pixels than others. If you count that then Honor Magic 2 is the WINNER here. Anyway you made a very nice video. Keep up the good works.

Damn man didn't even think of that. I know about the whole black background on AMOLED display to preserve battery but I set the 6t up around a week before the test and do my usual settings change from top to bottom and adjusted to dark mode because my eyes hate bright white backgrounds, looks amazing but didn't stop to think about the effect on the battery life. Nevertheless, that's how I think most people would be using the phone so it works in its favour. It's actually a huge benefit of having a OnePlus device and in essence shouldn't be set to default imo. However for the purposes of the test it should have been set to light, thanks for mentioning that! Always happy to get some advice in preparation for my next video😎 With that mentioned as well as the phone shutting off at 2% I think it's safe to say the magic 2 is on par with the 6ts battery life, if not even better which is impressive to say the least! Great video. Anyways the battery indicators are always displaying percentage left. So, 60% of Note 9 is more than 65% of Magic 2. Anyways, real life scenario proved inconsistency in battery drains with apps. We also need to consider the charging cycle for each phone to be similar besides other factors you mentioned.

Also, the Magic 2 was faking the 0% battery at the end. Battery drain don't suddenly increase near the end for no reason. It's saving battery so you can make one last emergency call for a life and death situation, if you need to. This behavior was well documented, and is present in most Huawei phones.

The 0% power is fake. It's an intentional design decision - in case you have to make an emergency call for a life and death situation, the Huawei phone will bail you out. Magic 2 stayed ahead of 6T the entire way, until the end, where drain magically increased - except it didn't, the phone was just saving battery and faking the 0%.

You're disappointed the smallest battery in the group didn't last as long as the bigger batteries? What's disappointing to me is the bigger batteries could not even outlast the smallest battery by an hour. I expected the difference to be a little more drastic. I would also guess Nick probably didn't check google play to see how much battery percent it was using. If it isn't 3-5% it has to be reinstalled. Some Mix 3 google play installs taxes the battery at 50% which is too much. Remember, these are user installs from a apk file because the global version is not yet available. There is no telling what is going to happen vs. a pre-install. My essential runs at 2%.

Of course you can change the resolution of the screen. I have a 1440p monitor and I can change the resolution of the display. All it does is send out the same amount of pixels a 1080p display would and in essence using the same amount of power to power those number of pixels. When you drop the resolution it displays less pixels. Certainly not the same as watching 1080p content on a 1440p display, I can assure you that. I could do the same test with 1440p enabled and the phone would last a good hour less.

I am mostly disappointed about the note 9 cause the size of the battery and I bet with the higher resolution would it be faster down which is not good for a 4000 mAH battery. which ship uses it? Yeah there are mixed results when it comes to the Snapdragon version of the device. Remember all the connections have been enabled here. As well as the brightness has been set the max and the screen is on for this full amount of time. It would only be possible to compare and know for sure if you do this exact same drain test. Remember I also ran benchmarks like 3 times and enabled performance mode. Like I mentioned in the video, if you use the phone more casually you can expect around an hour more of screen on time. If you only really use social media and watch a couple KZbin videos you are looking at around 8h of screen on time. It all varies depending on use. Hope you are enjoying the phone bud!

The Mix 3 is way more affordable, has a better feeling slider, a scratch resistant ceramic back, A global Rom, a better overall camera setup, wireless charging, a accurate fingerprint reader and double the LTE band support. The K 980 is nice in numbers but real world tests show that the speed difference is non existent with some tests like video editing actually going faster on the SD 845 because of the hardware support. Most reviewers (of the GLOBAL ROM) show about 7 hours of screen on time using it as their daily driver. Xiaomi made a better overall phone this time. The DX 108 Camera score, wireless charging, and 12/14 LTE band support is what sold me on this phone.

did anyone else noticed what i noticed? the clock was not speeding up when the video was fast forwarded!! smells fishy but if i let that slide then i'll say xiaomi having the smallest battery in the bunch it actually performed really good. it shows how well built device that is and the snapdragon chipset worked well both on 6t and mix 3 but saying that mix having a smaller battery it was performing quite close to 6t which is strange.... and samsung having the biggest in the bunch its performance was average but it also has a much more brighter and more pixel dence screen so i'll say its good but magic 2 performed shockingly well just because of the huawies krinin 980 chipset
