They need to fix the reflective display. Its not because its glossy. I would never buy a matte display on any laptop. But I have owned the surface laptop and had the same issue with the reflections being really annoying. On my macbook though, no issues with reflections whatsoever. It may be something to do with display design and cutting costs there. I remember the gap between the screen underneath and the screen you can touch needs to be reduced in order to reduce the reflections. This may no longer be accurate as that was from over a decade ago. Also, your review was amazing and genuinely really good. I don’t say that just randomly out there. I don’t watch tech reviews anymore because they’re annoying but yours has the sensible, mature and responsible aspects because it has you and that’s who you clearly are. I know this video took a lot of effort but you didn’t try to cover that up and make it look effortless. You focused on whats important and didn’t get distracted. That makes your opinion trustworthy. I really enjoyed it. Someone else could say your script word for word and I wouldn’t say the same. Simply because it wouldn’t mean anything. I wouldn’t trust them for anything.

A splendid review as ever, Ben. By any chance, would you mind enlightening us about the battery endurance of the Snapdragon X Elite and the Intel Lunar Lake Ultra 7 258V processors? I understand that a multitude of factors - OEM driver optimisation, display characteristics (size, resolution, refresh rate, panel technology, touch sensitivity), battery capacity, and individual usage patterns - inevitably influence battery life. While reviews consistently highlight the competitive nature of these two platforms, the Intel Lunar Lake implementations exhibit a notable degree of variance across different devices, with some demonstrating superior battery life while others fall significantly short. Conversely, the Snapdragon X Elite devices appear to offer a more consistent performance in this regard, albeit with a couple of notable exceptions. Given your penchant for real-world usage scenarios and insightful observations, I would be most grateful for your perspective on this matter. Thank you in advance for your valuable insights."

This is incorrect. The x86 monopoly in the laptop/desktop space is mainly because of Windows and legacy apps. Mac didn't have that problem. In fact, the first M1 chip was far more powerful and efficient vs its x86 counterparts. The m1 was even on par with emulated apps (so you can imagine the raw performance advantage). Even today, people like me may not shift to ARM chips on windows because of gaming. AMD chips can compete really well in terms of efficiency so for people like me there's little reason to shift to ARM unless I want an office productivity and streaming only machine.

2nd best laptop I've seen behind the lenovo yoga slim 7x as the display on this honor isn't as good and has bad detachable camera that you can loose and be stolen, they should go for the anti notch
@torpedospursКүн бұрын
The Slim 7x display PWM is 360hz which will create problems for more people. Its peak brightness at 500 nits is also lower. Pixel density is about the same. So why is the Honor display worse? As for the camera, you are not likely to lose it because the software bugs you to store it the moment you detach it from the display.
@harryvlogs7833Күн бұрын
@torpedospurs you clearly don't read lenovo 7x peak is 1000nits at hdr and 360hz pwm is perfectly great my s23ultra has sa.e or lower never had any problems. As for the camera as its detachable there will always be a infinite possibility of loosing it compared to 1 that's built in . Plus battery is far superior at 16hours plus not the terrible 7.5 on this
@torpedospursКүн бұрын
@@harryvlogs7833 I'll give you the peak brightness, but 360hz is not great. In order to get certified as 'flicker free' you need to get beyond 3,000hz. Just because you don't have any problems with your phone doesn't mean others won't have problems with the Slim 7x. Some people are more susceptible to PWM. These are well-known facts.

Until you lose the camera or it breaks. I suspect other OEMs thought about this and decided it was not really sensible. It may appeal to a tiny niche techie demographic that get excited by things like this but it is impractical; no Windows Hello, risk of losing, and fiddly. I suspect this is a gimmick and will be gone next year like the OnePlus motorised camera, that the same techies got excited about, but was a major fail for OnePlus.

It’s not released in the UK at the moment so not a choice. But in France it is €1700 which is the typical price for premium ultrabooks with 32GB/1TB. There is a launch deal of €200 off plus some free gifts. Bearing in mind the poor sales of X Elite chips and the heavy discounts, even that price is way too much. I have seen the X Elite Vivobook S15 refurb for £515 during the Black Friday sale. I bought an XPS 13 32GB/1TB X Elite for £900. So, DO NOT BUY at retail as it is a buyers market as no one wants these Snapdragons. FWIW my experience with Snapdragon is there are compatibility issues, battery life if you are not just watching video, is nowhere near the hype, and there are bugs including freezing screens, random slowdowns and you need to use the best performance mode to make it run slickly which kills the battery even more. So buyers beware, but at the very low discounted prices, they are maybe worth a shot if your workflow is supported.

Intel has since released an ultrabook chip that has similar battery life but with no compromises and a better GPU, priced similarly. So, I find it difficult to understand why anyone will currently buy ARM over the Intel version of the same machine especially as list prices are identical. MS has invested substantially in WOA so they are going to keep pushing, but early signs are of slow sales and substantially above average returns.
@Betancourtdm4 күн бұрын
@@andyH_England It really depends on ones needs. Inter Lunar Lake - X86 support, GPU speed, AI performance; Snapdragon X - Better battery life, faster raw performance. Personally when I am on the go, I prefer the Snapdragon X Elite for battery life and performance. All the apps I use are supported and I don't game on the go. Even all my coding apps are supported.
