I was at the American Cemetery in Normandy this summer. It’s incredibly beautiful and equally haunting, it’s impossible to walk through without crying. The grounds are impeccably kept.

These people, who maintain and stand watch over our fallen, deserved this recognition that is long, long over due. As a Army solider who spent more than one tour of duty in Europe visiting the many places that our fallen are placed at with care, this is a very moving tribute. To Jane Pauley and the entire CBS Sunday morning crew, You did us, ALL of us, proud and right ! ! Thank you. US Army 1972-1982 Washington State.

My great uncle was an army ranger killed in 1944 trying to capture the town of Cisterna just outside of Anzio. He’s buried in this cemetery and I had the honor of visiting many years ago. It’s such a beautiful place.

You'd have to be made of stone to not be moved by this story, the sacrifice made by these men and the way that are honored even though many American's don't even know about these final resting places. A gift to have viewed this story.

I visited my dad's grave in the American Cemetery in France. I am so thankful he is there with his comrades and his grave is adopted by Bernard Duval who I call my French brother. The beauty is indescribable. I am thankful, also, that our fallen are honored.
