Those highlights took me back. Before you could get all the scores in seconds on your phone, Sportcenter was must watch to find out sports news. Stuart was the best.

As a kid growing up in Orlando I was so lucky to watch Stuart when he was a junior sportscaster for WESH 2, the local NBC affiliate. I say junior as he was - but it was absolutely clear that he had an electric talent. And he would cover the still new Magic franchise and interview the players and just had such a natural rapport. A genuine good human taken far too soon.

Kids these days wouldn’t know how cool ESPN was then. Stu was a big part of it. I was just thinking about how cool Ken Griffey was and how cool it was to leave ESPN on and see what Ken did and catch whatever happened in sports and the top 10 man it was so great.

He never took the shine away from the sports he was covering. His big personality was a compliment to the game. The talking heads these days try too hard to make their personality the biggest story and it suuuuuucks.
