On April 9, 2014, Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) had the privilege of honoring Alexander D. Brickler, MD and his legacy by announcing that our Women's Pavilion would be renamed the Alexander D. Brickler, MD Women's Pavilion. Not only was Dr. Brickler one of TMH's first African-American physicians, but he has delivered over 30,000 babies during his stay in Tallahassee, received numerous awards and recognitions for his expert care and trained more than 330 physicians through our Family Medicine Residency Program. Today, he continues to be a role model for all who know him, and we are so grateful to have him as a member of our team. Congratulations, Dr. Brickler!

Dr. Brickler delivered both of my babies! What better way to honor a man of EXCELLENCE!! My mom worked with him many years ago in Labor and Delivery and she still speaks well of him even today! Thank you TMH for honoring such a Distinguished Gentleman!!!

So amazing! My older brother and I are "Brickler Babies" from the early 70's and our Nephew is a "Brickler Baby" from 2001! I got to finally meet him during that time and he truly is a sweet, soft spoken man and a wonderful Doctor. And my Mother agrees!! ;)

In 1976, I was a Brazilian graduate student at FSU and my wife was pregnant. We looked for a medical doctor who would allow us to achieve our goal of having natural birth for our child. A. D. Brickler, MD. was suggested and we still have wonderful memories of him, before and after our daughter was born at TMH.

How great to see this! We came to Tallahassee in the early 60's when my dad took a position as biology professor at FSU. The Bricklers are my second family. My very best memories of Tallahassee are those of days spent at the Brickler's house.

Was so blessed to work with Dr. Brickler for 20+ years. What an amazing doctor who has true humility and patience. When you know your the best at something you don't have to prove it with arrogance and attitude because it shows in action. That is what it was like working with Dr Brickler. He will always be the example to me of a doctor who shows the care and compassion that lets you know his priority is the patient. He has such an amazing legacy to pass on and I am so glad I can say I saw that first hand.

I'm a Brickler Baby (1977) as are my three younger siblings. My mom was a nurse in labor and delivery before I was born and she chose Dr. Brickler because of what she witnessed professionally working with him and Tallahassee's other OBs ("the best doctor in town."). When my siblings and I got into the Dumas books she would remind us of Dr. Brickler. I think she thought he was a descendant of Dumas, but he's actually the great-nephew of Harriet Tubman! Dr. Brickler and his family are such an important part of Tallahassee's history. Love this tribute!

Dr A D. Brickler delivered me about 68 years ago 11/03/1955 at Lockbourne Air Force base. Just now reading about this and wondered how many babies he delivered at the the base. I have no photo at birth but a card and a photo a month later. My Mom was in labor long had x-rays (pelvimetry) I presume. I just retired last year in x-ray after 47 years would loved to have seen that x-ray. Thank you Doctor!
