Honshu Naginata

My review and cutting session with my new Honshu Naginata.

i went through 4 of these naginatas from honshu, and every single one broke cutting tatami, and they all had identical breaks, exact same spot, exact same way. they all broke after i finished the 10th tatami mat, and broke exactly 5.3 inches from the guard, in a clean straight break with the break curving sharply up at the spine of blade, each of the 4 i bought broke in the same way, which is creepy, but even the pricey honshus seem to break suspiciously easy in the uk, and i know plenty of honshu owners who have gone through way to many of them

@@poppypicker3863 its weird, because ive not had a problem with there actual swords, its just there naginata and knives that ive had issues with, my current favourite i own is the broadsword and dagger set, honshus medieval swords are really good quality and hold up great and the honshu saber is a little clunky but cuts great once you get the right technique for it. but there broadsword is a beast, can guarantee a tank of a blade edit: plus to be fair to the naginata, i spent 10 years chopping down trees and chopping firewood each week on my grandfathers land, so i think the muscle memory of "brute force" swings might be why they keep breaking, so i might just need to relearn two handed weapons to avoid it

I have a love hate relationship with Honshu both blades I bought from them were dull as a hammer face

That’s a drag. I’ve had a few blades from windlass that were like that. However I have 3 Honshu and they were really good. Hollow grinds too so scary sharp. I have another Honshu coming soon. We’ll see how it goes. I’ll do a review once the snow melts here. Thanks for watching! I enjoy your channel!
