I used to listen to this song a lot when I was in my teenage years. It made me grateful of what I had and not focus on what I didn't have. Fast forward to 2024 my mom passed away from dementia from a young age and this song has a new meaning now. It was almost like it was getting me ready for my mom's passing and to just spend the most time with her regardless of the differences we had. Always let the people you love know that you love them because you never know that will be the last time you'll see them.

TBH I've barely listened to Hoobastank but I come back to this one sometimes because, legitimately, it's a soul scream. It's sanity trying to speak it's peace in a world trying to eat/devour sanity in any corner where it's not dominated / straight-jacketed by zero-sum games. The other obvious piece of it - it's got a tinge of red pill awareness (applied in an adult / altruistic manner rather than the popular 'gotcha' crap we have today) and points out the harms of automaticity and self-absorption.
