I was 6 years old in 1967 and that Christmas I recieved my very first G.I Joe. It was a Green Beret that had brown hair, he came with an M16, a belt with ammo pouches, grenades and a bazooka. Between him and the motorcycle with the sidecar, they were the 2 best presents I ever got. Despite the 3.75 figure's flaws it reminded me of that. Too bad Hasbro didn't include the M16 and bazooka with that figure and not gotten sloppy with the sculpt. Still a great review for a great 3.75 version of an original 12" figure.

Great video, the original G.I. Joe Joe Colton is forgotten a lot of times with Joe fans. Probably because he doesn’t appear in very many comics, and other media. I have the 3 3/4 inch mail away figure. YO JOE!

Joe Colton is from Central Falls Rhode Island. That is totally Bad Ass. I live 40 mins away from it. Central Falls is rugged AF.👍

JoeCon 2014 was my first and only Joecon, I unfortunately never got a chance to attend any of the following conventions. Still, those three days were a lot of fun. It was cool to meet and mingle with other people who shared a similar hobby, and who had done so for far much longer than myself (I only collect modern era figures - my younger brother received and played with the 80s-era Joes, though I was a fan of the Sunbow cartoon growing up). What was really awesome, though, was getting the opportunity to meet and talk with Morgan Lofting (Baroness), B.J. Ward (Scarlett), and Michael Bell (Duke) - they were all so friendly and open, and hearing them tell their old stories about their time in the voice-over industry was great.

Thanks for this video Bryan! I needed more info on the origin and now that you've made it clear the '94 figure uniform is based on the '64 soldier with added green beret hat - it's all the more clear. I had been wondering about this for YEARS.

It’s a sad world we live in that Hasbro can make a million Star Wars toys that nobody buys but can’t make not one single GI Joe toy in 2019.

I very much agree since he is the reason gi Joe is called gi Joe in the first place after all wasn't he supposed to be the original Joe as Well???

@@AgentSmartnumber86 Yes, according to Larry Hama's writing in the Marvel comic book series Joe Colton was originally code named G.I. Joe by President John F. Kennedy in the 1960's. He was selected to lead a specialized team of best and brightest personnel the Army had to offer. In honor of all the classified work he did the 1960's, the modern G.I. Joe team took its name from his original code name when they were founded later on. Issue #86 of the Marvel series is his first appearance, he would then appear in many other issues as well as having his origin story detailed in flashbacks in issue # 152.

I'd like to give a shout out to Joe. Her story was very compelling and she is a welcome edition to the G.I.Joe fandom.

I think this is a great figure because it has that style of the original G.I.Joes from the 60's like a toy from that line that never came out done in 3 in 3 quarter inch form.

My first and only JoeCon was Loveland, CO. I thought it was great experience. I spent more money than I ever did. I knew of JoeCon and Fun Publication before, but never had the money to buy exclusives and fly out to any cons. Loveland was the best for me since it was only 10 miles from my house.

Action Solider, Action Sailor and Action Marine were the last G.I. Joe action figures I got in 1994. Despite the passage of time, G.I. Joe is still one of my favorite childhood toys.

Thanks again for another great review, I learned so much about this toy and character, as well as the history, I remember some of my early GI Joe catalogs and saw this figure with the hit n run figure m-16 rifle, I think that is the proper weapon GI Joe should have came with, it's hard to get this figure for a decent price, also were those some of classic GI Joe figures I sent you that's awesome.

I have a complicated head canon regarding which of the original 12 inch Joe's this is supposed to be. Because, you know, these things are important. I know this is more thought than Hasbro ever put into it, but for a while, I considered G.I. Joe Colton to be the same "character" as the Action Soldier also released in 1994 (which is of course supposed to be a miniaturized version of the very first GI Joe doll from 1964). Now I'm starting to think (and again, this is all little more than fanfic, but I am connecting dots that has Hasbro has unintentionally given me) that "Joe Colton" wasn't the doll released in 1964, but rather the Green Beret doll released a couple of years later, meaning that "GI Joe" wasn't the first GI Joe toy. Either that or Action Soldier, GREEN Beret, and Joe Colton are all the same character. Or I'm just high on cold medicine. Anyway, cheers!

I have gotten the impression that Hasbro doesn't really give a damn about G.I. Joe fans. They constantly re-hash transformers lines, but have given only a trickle of G.i. Joe runs since 1994. I have very little love for the company.

I almost bought the 12' figure, I did nt know about this one. but, looking at his arms and gun... I did nt miss much. it says a lot about the management at the time, they butchered the most important character of the line. with such vehicles as the rat, the circus color scheme and designs, they killed it. doing it again, I d get about half of what was released now, and that is pretty good, because not much else is worth collecting in my opinion. I think that the future of Joe lies in a new adventure team but with a villain. military toys have a bad rep, an action adventure line is what s best to expect to be a marketable hit. I d see Zartan and his gang fit this role well, hopefully, Hasbro would sell their bikes this time... good show!!!

Looking forward to this. Joe Colton was in a way a final goodbye to the lineup. I just wish that had given him a legit M-16 rifle instead of that horrid huge thing they gave him for a weapon.
@DasNordlicht915 жыл бұрын
It’s weird that they gave the released version the giant gun, when the mail order catalogue has him holding a more properly-scaled machine gun.
@user-si9fx4xb6v4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the oversized M60 is not one of the better weapons Hasbro produced. Still compared to some of the accessories choices for the action figures after the year 2000, it is forgivable in my book. The 2004 Toys RUs exclusive Nightforce six pack had everyone with accessories from Firefly version one and none of their trademark weapons. To me Roadblock is not complete unless he has his Browning M2HB machine gun and Flint without a shotgun and his backpack just does not feel right either. I am glad that I was able to get extras of the proper accessories for the characters in that set.

I understand what your saying about this toy being the spirit of the line, but I just can't get over how low those arms are on the side of the body. Just makes it look wrong.

Great review! It is a great figure in its significance, but the figure itself, and I agree with your assessment that this figure is kinda meh. FYI, Marvel G.I.Joe #86 stated that Jane was the one that earned a Ph.D in physics, not Joe.

Why wasn't he released in the 82 line no one in that series had a beret and Joe Colton would've fit in perfectly being the quintessential GI Joe first of many but he was released instead only as a mail away at the end of the line?!?!
