Listening to this video confirms for me that I am no longer a beginner. I have made a lot of those mistakes when I started my journey about 10 years ago. All though I was naturally "crafting" things for prayers even as a child. I've definitely spent to much money in Apothecaries and botanicals, buying anything that caught my eye. Lol, but I didn't come to Hoodoo looking for a specific spell. Truly felt like a general calling. After watching this video . . . It's just added confirmation as to where I am in my journey. Thank you.

Thanks for this video! I gotta say, when you got to the part about "Arts n Crafts" Hoodoo. I was bustin' up because it's so silly to me? Maybe it's because I'm a huge dork and before I started my journey, I did historical research and stuff. But it baffles me because it looked like doin' all that Arts n Crafts stuff takes forever! Why the heck would you want to take a million years setting up a working when there's a proper way to just get it done efficiently? Ancestors had to get stuff done, not worry about the aesthetics. As for the "finding someone who knows what they're doing". I 100% feel that. One of the reddest flags I've noticed as I've started my journey, is people who act as if they're so high up and ascended. There's a very specific atmosphere that makes it feel like they're compensating for something they lack. The wisest kind of people tend to be the ones that feel down-to-earth. Humanity is important when balancing yourself on that spiritual path. Some may be gentle, and some may be blunt. But they always sound like a real person and not some hooby dooby holy head. And finally when people call themselves "Witches" it bugs me so much. The term "Witch" is a term that comes from old-english. Straight up European stuff. It's not a "bad" word or anything. But it just, doesn't make sense to call yourself that if you're black and doing hoodoo.

@@msandreaathomas I mean , from what I recall when it comes to Hoodoo. More proper titles would be like: Root worker, Conjurer (or Conjure man/woman). Stuff like that.

I appreciate your truth. When we subscribe to " new age" versions of traditional practices, I really believe that they have NO POWER. Thats because we try to cross pollinate our practices with others and it renders it useless. I feel most want to have an " experience " rather than to be committed to a path. The "spooky" part is realizing what is really involved and what we need to change in ourselves and thats the real work that most don't want to do. The cleansing of our spirits is hard work. The willingness in surrendering our ignorance in exchange for wisdom is the sign of a higher level and a true calling. Im so interested in exploring further. Thank you so much for sharing. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🕊🕊🕊🕊

I am currently reading a book written by a Hoodoo practitioner for beginners and I’m watching this video before beginning my journey! I felt drawn to this via my southern roots. I am from South Carolina and my entire family has resided in the midlands of SC pretty much since our ancestors were brought here from Africa. After realizing that so much of the superstition my grandma raised me up with was actually Hoodoo, I wanted to learn more and felt drawn to the practice!
