installing an engine fan switch on an 06 mustang gt. I also show what wires and pins are used in the relay fuse power distribution box. I hope this video helps you out.

Hood What I ended up doing was running two external relays. I ordered the fan connecter and created a whole external harness out of it outside of the BEC. Works good now! I have a transmission cooler with a Fan that I am going to actually run to a switch next I may tie the fan harness I created into it. Thank you because you opening up the BEC showed me where I needed to look!

I highly encourage everyone watching this video to submit a report to the National Highway and Safety Administration about this issue. If enough reports get filed, Ford would have to do a recall and fix this issue.

Nice video I have been having this problem for months now if you don't mind what type of wires are you using?
@JTM9792 жыл бұрын
So what happens if you just run straight to the fan resistor and bypass the fuse box completely? Shouldn’t be no issues correct?

I don't know. In theory sounds good. But you have to make sure your not backfeeding into the ecm thru the ground or anything else. I had to pull relays to break the connection. Then sold the car. And the guy burnt up wires probably by putting the relays back in. Never really found out what was the root problem but I highly suspect something wrong with the ecm circuitry. Or bad grounding through the ecm. The ecm doesn't complete the circuit with a positive connection. It completes the connection via. Completing the ground connection. Hope you get it fixed. Some people just get a stand alone fan kit with relays and actual water jacket temp sensor. Ford decided a cylinder head temp sensor and a computer algorithm was a good way to figure out when to turn on the fan. So who knows it could be programmed to mess up. Well there goes my conspiracy theory ideas again. Have an awesome day.

Well I thought I would watch him wire a switch. He missing something upstairs 😊

Did you install it to the high speed or low speed
@HOODS3 жыл бұрын
I hooked it up to the high speed. I ran wires for both and may put another switch in for low speed. Although I don't see a need for it yet.

Can you please tell me what type of wire your using,
@HOODS3 жыл бұрын
I'm not an electrician. I don't give out wiring advise. So as long as you understand that. I used 12awg copper wire and a 30amp switch.

Also if you wire it like I did you have to remove the relays otherwise you back feed current into the ecm.

Heck if I know. Have you read the codes from the ecm?
